should I be worried? I haven't felt anything move, although there have been times where I felt like my stomach was on a roller coaster, but below my actual stomach. FTM, nervous.
try not to worry too much. i was in the same boat not knowing why i wasn't feeling any movement and i went to my ultrasound and he was laying with his back facing my stomach (which they said was fine, the only problem being i have to go in for another ultrasound for them to be able to see all his organs) so that explained why i maybe wasn't feeling anything. since then, he's clearly rolled back over because my kicks have been crazy lately.
I'm 17 weeks as well and I don't think I've felt anything (FTM as well) from what I've read, you can feel flutters between 16-22 weeks so I think we are ok!!! I'm trying (and it's hard) to go by the mantra that no news is good news!
Thanks Stephanie. Great to know I'm not Alone. Guess I freak out bc some mothers can feel movement as early as 12 wks and I'm edging towards the ending number of the flutter timeframe. I'll try to start following the same mantra and just try to relax. Thanks again
I'm almost 20 weeks and haven't felt anything yet because I have an anterior placenta....it's all good just means the cushion is on the front so it blocks all the kicks...the lo never stopped moving the whole ultrasound. So even though I'm not feeling anything baby is moving around like crazy in there!
Ok, honesty, I call BS on most of those people (especially ftm's!) but don't stress yourself out (and I need to practice what I preach). Everyone is different, and I'm learning that every pregnancy is different each time! Unless you have very bad signs, try not to think about it! I actually find talking to baby helps!
I am 17 weeks and this is my fourth pregnancy and I have yet to really feel anything. There are moments when I feel little flutters but for me it doesn't last long enough to count! And for the life I me I cannot remember when I started feeling movement with my others! But I'm pretty positive I was more like 20 weeks before I felt movement with my first! Every mommys pregnancy is different , im sure your little bundle is having a field day in there you just can't feel it yet!
There has been tons of threads on this the past 2 weeks. Everyone is different! You'll start to feel movement between 16-22 weeks so don't stress when you haven't yet. I'm sure it's coming! You've probably felt it just didn't know
I'm 17w and have not felt anything that I know of. My midwife told me that around 20weeks I may start to feel things, baby is still tiny. Is this different information than others are getting? There have been a ton of threads asking this panicked.
I think it also has to do with the fact that I also know too much. As a nursing student plus working as a tech at a women's/children's hospital I've been around more of the bad than good. Especially working in an ER. Maybe it's possible I know too much for my own good.

This is the reason why I avoid all those chapters in the baby books that "instill the fear of God in you", I'd rather not cloud my thought with negativity and bad feelings.
I thought I felt flutters at 16 weeks (I'm now 17.4) but still couldn't tell the difference between gas and baby. My doc said most ftm's don't feel baby until 20-24 weeks. So I think we're all okay. She also said sooner or later baby will be kicking your rib cage so enjoy this while it lasts. Haha
I haven't either and it is hard to not freak out when you read so many early experiences. I'm pretty jealous of the folks who have felt it so early. Some say on other strings the position of the placenta and baby makes a big difference and the websites I have read all say like 20 weeks or so so I am trying not to worry. It is just really hard when appointments are a month or more apart. And how do you tell honestly as a ftm if it is your stomach or dinner or the baby. I have no idea and feel pretty stupid for not knowing the difference even though I shouldn't. You could have been feeling it earlier and not realizing it was baby. My Ob said they don't expect you to count until the third trimester so she made me feel a lot better telling me that. She said it can be days between times you feel movement up until that time.
@seahawksfans I wouldn't feel bad about not knowing what it should feel like. It's impossible to know until you've experienced it. Everyone describes it differently/feels it differently so you can't totally go by that either. Eventually you'll feel it. For me both times I have had a sort of lightbulb moment when it just clicked that it was baby and not something else.
It's not a perfect comparison, but my grandparents talk a lot about their first pregnancy. At the time they had an outhouse and my grandma was getting clumsy so if she had to use it my grandpa had to walk with her. One night she kept waking him up saying she needed to go, they'd get out there and nothing. After enough times he insisted they just go to the hospital and sure enough she was in labor. You'd think you'd know what it would feel like. Her mother was a midwife and her MIL was a nurse. She still had no idea because she'd never felt it before.
I'm at 21 weeks and am still not sure if I have felt anything, but I know babe is healthy and kicking! I too have an anterior placenta, plus my doctor told me 16-25 weeks was the time period where Moms "COULD" possibly feel movement. Your perfectly normal!! Try not to think about it, just let it happen and surprise you naturally.
I didn't feel much until 18 weeks, and even at my Anatomy scan at 19 weeks they said depending where the placenta is positioned you may not feel much at this point. I wouldn't worry!!
First time moms usually feel movement for the FIRST time between 16-22 weeks. 17 weeks is on the very early end of this so the majority of people will not feel it until later.
I'm pretty thin and my placenta is posterior/fundal. I felt what I thought might be a kick at 17 weeks and then still couldn't really distinguish between gastric movement and baby for a few weeks following. I knew I felt a lot of movement but it usually felt like an upset stomach. At 19w5d I felt my first really distinct kicks and have felt it many times a day since then. I really think it was just hard for me to recognize them as a ftm until they got much stronger. Dh was able to feel them around 20 weeks when I told him where to put his hand.
Re: 17wks and no movement?
