Poison ivy, can't stop scratching

So I got poison ivy about 2 weeks ago and is not getting any better. In fact, it's getting worse.
I've been to the dr and was prescribed some lotion but the pharmacy won't have it in stock until Monday.

Does anyone have any suggestions to help with the itch or to make it go away?

  • Chalomine lotion helps. I dont think you need a prescription for that. Or taking a bath in room temperature water with baking soda in the bath helps sometimes too. It won't make it go away, but it might help relieve the itching. Sorry you are having to deal with this!

  • I got it last week from the hubby, it started on one arm and spread to the other. It was terrible, but I soaked it in a Epsom salt bath a couple of times and put some calamine on it. It helped dry it up and get to stop hurting and itching. Best of luck getting rid of it. (:
  • I'm sorry! I had it really bad a few years ago. Try the hair dryer trick- train a hot hairdryer on the patches. Pull away slowly when it heats up too much. Then you should feel relief for a while. It actually feels incredible, try it and see. I think my electricity bill went up a lot just from those couple of weeks. Feel better!!
  • Good luck, tecnu works alright for maintaining the scratch .
  • Zanfel is magic! My husband and daughter are highly allergic and this stuff helped them so much. It's around $40 for a little tube but so worth it!

    Thanks everyone for the suggestions.
Going to try the Zanfel tonight. Hopefully, it works.
