STMs- Does MS get worse each week?

my MS with DS was very different and untypical (it didn't start until 2nd tri and wasn't every day but when it hit it was BAD). This time I started by the books at 6 weeks. Just wondering if it tends to get worse or stays pretty consistent. I'm sure it's different for everyone, just curious to see your answers from past experience.

I got psi bands and amazingly they're working. Don't know how effective they'll be if it gets worse though. Hormones are pretty stinkin resilient!

  • Mine hit earlier this time around. Try Unisom at night. There's a scientific reason why it works, which I'll let someone else ddelve into. It's magic.

Sorry to leave you hanging, I should've known! I honestly didn't think they would work, and for some people I'm sure they don't (in fact my sister said they did nothing for her). But I put them on the night I got them and the next morning I woke up feeling fine- first time in a week! Only a tinge of nausea in the AM and my appetite started coming back!

  • I have seabands which are similar but I got from Target. They help when I'm feeling queasy. This time around I feel nausea off and on with only one day of actual vomiting. With my first I was constantly nauseous until I got sick every day until my third trimester. This time it has been kinder to me.

  • I had no nausea with ds. This time around it has been much worse (not unbearable), I have actually puked once, but come very close everyday. I basically feel like I could puke from the moment I sit up until about 3pm, then it subsides. Definitely worse this time around for me.
  • This time.has been worse so far. A lot more nausea and threw up once. First child was some nausea but this time around its every day and only thing that doesn't make me sick is fruits and veggies for some reason.
  • Last time it was more vomit and rally for me . This time it is mostly longer periods of nausea and dry heaving (TMI probably). Second trimester cleared that all up for me last time so fingers crossed for baby number 2 (although symptoms hit harder and earlier this time)

To answer your main question, no, for me, it does not get progressively worse as the weeks pass. I basically feel like death from week 6 to 13, then it slowly eases. But it's different for everyone!

  • Last pregnancy I was pretty nauseous and vomited once (gagged a lot) from weeks 6-9. This one I've had a few small waves of nausea but nothing major- it kind of worries me since its different this time but every pregnancy if different and my mom said her two were the same way.

Yeah, it got worse for me. I remember last time going to the doc a little after 8 weeks and she asked how I was doing with the morning sickness. I was like "Eh, I'm dealin. It's not too bad." And not more than a week later BAM. I'm nauseous all day, every day for like 3 weeks. Then it went away overnight.

This time it started earlier and was worse earlier.

I second the suggestion on Unisom Tabs at bedtime. It has made a world of difference for me. Take 25 mg at bedtime. If you still have nausea during the day, you can take 1/2 a pill, or 12.5 mg twice a day. It may make you drowsy. There's also some suggestions that vitamin B6, up to 25mg 3x a day may help as well. I have not noticed B6 helping much, but might as well try it out.

How it works its magic: It's actually an antihistamine that also reduces nausea in a similar way that Dramamine works. Sold as a sleep aid because its major side effect is drowsiness. It must be Unisom Tabs, not Unisom Gels or anything else. The active ingredient has to be doxylamine succinate. This active ingredient has been prescribed in Canada paired with vitamin B6 as a morning sickness pill for 30+ years. It is now available via prescription from your OB in the US but you can try it out yourself with OTC stuff. It is a Class A drug so totally safe to take.

As always, talk to your doctor before taking anything while pregnant as if you have a high risk pregnancy your doctor may not want you taking anything.
