Hard time choosing name for baby!

in 2nd Trimester
16 weeks with twin boys, having such a hard time choosing names for them. Worried about people shortening their names for example
If I were to name one of my boys Thomas I wouldn't like people shortening the name to Tom!

Is anyone else OCD about their baby names?

    If someone calls LO "Tom", just say nicely "It's Thomas".

    Also a "his name is Thomas" mum! He's nearly 10 and everyone calls him Thomas! X

    So I went through this "Great Inventors" period where i wanted to name the kid Edison. 

    My husband said "No, people will call him Eddie. I don't like Eddie"

    Now I don't like Eddie either and explained that if anybody tried that, we'd shut it down right away. 

    Nick said "His friends will call him Eddie. HE may call HIMSELF Eddie. There is no stopping the Eddie wave."

    So Edison is off the table. Just as well. It sounds too much like Adison. Which is lame.

    The moral of this story is that if a nickname can be had, it will be had. So you can correct everybody forever and ever. There may be no stopping it and when choosing a name, the obvious nicknames are part of the package. Because eventually they'll happen.
