Time between dr appts

When I went to my dr last she said she would like to see me back in 2 weeks but the front desk on the way out scheduled me for 3 weeks out and here I am with only one month left. Would you just keep the appt you were given which is only 12 days before the date I am to be induced or call to see if they could see you sooner?

  • I did tell them at the desk that she said two weeks and also she wrote it on the bottom of the check out form. I figured I would be going every week by this point too
  • I'd call back and schedule earlier since that's what your dr said
  • I would call. If the dr said 2 weeks, they will find a way to fit you in.
  • Give them a call. I'm 35 w and weekly now. So I mean I know every doctor is different but 3 weeks is too far
  • I had 3 weeks between my last appt (which was last week) and the one before that because they were completely booked up, which I thought was insane, but at the time I was still on every other week appointments (turned 35 weeks last Weds), I have another one this week and then every week there after until baby arrives. If it is that close to your due date, I personally would not be comfortable going 3 weeks without being checked (after all, there is a reason they choose to see us weekly after 36 weeks). I would call and play dumb and say, "I was just looking at my appointment card for my next appointment but it isn't until xx/xx/xxxx and the Dr wanted to see me in 2 weeks" or even ask, "aren't I supposed to be seen weekly after 36 weeks?" and I would ask to talk to a nurse at a minimum and not just the receptionist. Not saying they are dumb, but they are not medical professionals so they are more concerned with just booking the appointments and such.
  • I'm guessing it is how the schedule worked out for them at that time. We start weekly spots after this next one... Which is a little further out than it should be because DH is out of town.

  • My last appt was 36 weeks and my next is 39 weeks exactly a week before I'm due. I thought that was fine but reading this thread maybe I'll change it?!!

Yes, I would def call and try to be seen sooner. Typical practice is weekly after 36 weeks.

I was seen weekly after 36 with my first, but this time around it's two weeks after 36, then weekly after. Some practices may be a little different. I had DD1 in FL and I'm in the DC area this time around if that means anything.
3 weeks seems a little long, but don't hesitate to call and double check the scheduling.

  • I'm 36 weeks 2 days and my next appointment isn't until next Thursday. I tried to talk them into squeezing me in earlier but the doctor said there was no need since they took care of my week 35 tests on the 14th. I'm not too happy about it to say the least.
  • I wouldn't reschedule, but I've been around the block and am pretty nonchalant about Dr appts.
  • They same thing happened to me, dr said 2 weeks went to desk and they said 3weeks. Now I start going weekly.
  • You should be on weekly! I have an appointment next week at 35w and then another at 36..

    I would call back
  • I'm not on weekly yet. I'm 36 weeks tomorrow. I presume I may be after my next appointment though.

  • After my appt this friday I'm supposed to be going weekly with my actual OB but due to her schedule there is one period where I have two weeks between appts and one of the appts is with a different dr. Maybe your dr didn't have anything available sooner so they scheduled you as best they could. If you want to try bringing it up with your dr or call and reschedule but be prepared for them to not be able to reschedule.
  • I think weekly is pretty important.  Now that I'm 37+ weeks, swelling and weight gain can drastically change over night so its good to always have that touch point at least.

  • My last appointment was at 34 weeks and I'll be 38 weeks on Thursday and will be seeing my ob then. Glad you got yours moved up!
  • I'm 37 weeks and one of my doctors said come back in two weeks. He also said I would go into labor anytime... so I figured he planned on me delivering before my appointment on the 30th.

I guess it doesn't matter. I work at the hospital I'm delivering at anyway. Lol.
  • My dr has me going every week since 36 weeks. The appts are super quick ( like less then 10 mins) but it's reassuring to know she is keeping a close eye towards the end. She is going to be on vacation for the next 1.5 weeks so she had me scheduled with 2 other ob's at the practice because she said going more then a week was not a good idea after 36 weeks when complications can start to arrive for some.

I was going to say that same. In the beginning I was going every 7ish weeks, and I'm 38 weeks this Thurs and still not going weekly.
