I've had to do them once a week, they're really not bad! You get the opportunity to learn your body better, it helped me identify when I'm having contractions and which ones would read as mild vs. Intense.
I have had them 2x a week since 34 weeks and a weekly BPP. I don't mind any added monitoring when it comes to my and LO's health. I am sure your doctor has good reason for doing them.
Same but I'm high risk as well. I also have weekly ultrasounds. Mine are annoying because my child hates anything pushing on my stomach. He always kicks the monitor off or goes away from it and they have to start all over again. So what should take 10 mins usually takes 45 mins.
Since 32 weeks, as well. I appreciate them though since it gives me a chance to hear baby's heartbeat and see her twice a week. That way I don't feel stressed or worried about her well being. With everything going on with this pregnancy it gives me good piece of mind that my docs are keeping a close eye on her.
Twice a week since 33 weeks, plus a weekly fluid check (AFI ultrasound). It's cool to hear the heartbeat and my u/s tech actually flipped on the 3D last week so I got to see his face for the first time, too! Worth it, totally, to make sure he's healthy in there though! And it does give me peace of mind....But...it's still a pain in the butt, especially when he doesn't cooperate and it takes an hour instead of 20 minutes.
Dr didn't say why but I assume it's because I'm high risk due to my age. Thanks for the input though, nice to know it's rather common.
You should definitely ask why you need it - I have borderline high BP and I'm "advanced maternal age", too, but it's due to the BP. They may be worried about pre-e or something, so you should know warning signs to watch for (headaches, excessive swelling, etc) I'd ask when you go in next.
I had this with my first because they thought they detected something off with her heart rate (I can't remember what at this point). It ended up being nothing and all was well. If anything I became super familiar with the belts and watching the heart/contraction tracking they put you on at the hospital.
I hope it ends up being no big deal for you too. Good luck!
