Severe Cramping!!!

so on and off ever since Friday night, I have been having severe cramping in my stomach and back. The pain is in my pelvic area and the middle of my stomach, and in my middle and lower back. It's not constant but when it's there, it gets really bad. I can even go several hours to nearly a whole day feeling fine, then it's back again. I'm not bleeding or spotting at all and I still feel my baby move. I had cramping like this with my first pregnancy and went to the hospital and they sent me home and told me I was fine and my daughter was born perfectly healthy at 37 weeks. I'm just wondering if anyone else has or is experiencing this and if they went to a doctor, what they were told.

Re: Severe Cramping!!!

  • Maybe still go to the ER just in case? I know you had it last time, but just to be on the safe side

  • I literally have no idea, but I think maybe Braxton Hicks contractions are causing this? Maybe page your OB?
  • I hope it goes away soon for you. Ouch! Last night I was at the movie theater and again on the way home I had sharp intermittent pain through my right ovary area. It went all the way around to my back. I just kept breathing through it. Nothing going on down below so I didn't see any reason to get another hospital bill. Baby is still moving around today. Feel better.

I would call your OB before making a trip to the ER.
  • Seeing as you used the word servere to describe the cramps. I would definatly suggest you get checked out, mild cramping can be normal due to stretching braxton hicks etc. But i would definatly urge you to get any servere pain checked out. Hope you feel better soon and hopefully a visit to a professional will set your mind at ease
  • Thanks everyone for the advice! I ended up going to the hospital but they told me that everything is fine
  • Stomach area is a little high for uterine cramping at this point. If it's above your umbilicus j would make an appointment with your OB, are you constipated? That can cause some pretty sever abdominal cramping throughout your abdomen

  • No I'm not really constipated at all so idk what it is but I do have my routine ob appointment coming up pretty soon so I'll talk to her when I go since they didn't give me much info at the hospital
  • Glad you and baby are ok. Take it easy!
  • I'm not sure if this is what it is but do you feel you are drinking enough water? I had some pretty bad cramping at 14 weeks that scared the crap out of me and that's what it ended up being. That day I was outside enough and just wasn't hydrating enough. It hasn't really happened since.
  • Sometimes gas pain can be extremely painful.... It might be that? Do you find it happens 1-2 hours after eating? I've had gallstones before and sometimes I get gas pain that is just as painful. It just goes away quicker than gallstone pain does.
  • I'll add that if it lasts longer than 4 hours I'd definitely call your OB or see the ER again.

That's what they were thinking it could be too but I drink tons of water every day so I really don't know. I've not really had any cramps like that since Saturday night though, so hopefully, nothing to worry about anymore

It actually started right after I woke up from a long nap the first time so I don't know. But thankfully, the cramping has pretty much been gone after Saturday night

Ok good - hopefully they will stay away for you!!

Glad to read you're ok. Please stay hydrated! @AudriannaMaria posted about the "water your body" app, I started using it and it actually really helps keep you aware of your water intake. You might want to try it.
