Has anyone used/purchased from Udder Covers before?

I have a promotional card from Udder Covers for a free nursing cover ($35 value). (I got this card from Destination Maternity when I made a purchase). However, you pay $15 for shipping. This is still cheaper than buying one from Babies R Us or Target, as they are around $25-40. I was just curious if anyone has had a similar deal and used it or if anyone has a nursing cover from here, what do you think of it?

I searched previous posts, but didn't find anything recent or helpful.

Re: Has anyone used/purchased from Udder Covers before?

  • The promotional part where they make you think you are getting it for free and just paying shipping is a scam, the actual cost is $15. They do this with lots of things - nursing covers, carseat covers, nursing pillows, etc. That being said, I have one and it gets the job done fine, so if you like the patterns and are good with the $15, go for it. I used mine and will again this go around. You can also always use a light weight blanket such as a swaddle blanket.

  • Check Amazon , they sell them on there and are cheaper. I have prime and total came to $13, I believe the Norah print. I just got it in the mail and like it and will get the job done. Fyi the fabric is thin but might be a good thing during the summer.

Yes, and it made me so mad when I realized it wasn't free (should've seen that one coming). You can totally just use a blanket, but I was nervous because we're having twins and so I can't plan on always having a hand free to adjust the blanket. I do like the ones I got. I wish they were a bit longer but I think they're pretty much all that same size.

I got one last baby hoping it would cooperate better. But nope, it still hides babys face. I also have a handed diwn one and a homemade one, same problem. Easier to go somewhere private and not use one at all
  • I purchased one and my best friend has one as well. Definitely worth the $15 and cheaper than in the store. I also got the car seat cover.
  • I have an udder cover and car seat cover - I really liked the pattern of both that I chose - haven't had a chance to really use either since baby isn't here yet - but I have attached the car seat cover to my car seat and really like it so far. The udder cover is just hanging in my closet but I did try it on to see what kind of coverage it gave and it will work fine - I feel comfortable with it.
  • I used the same coupon for belly bands. I ordered the wrong size and sent them back for an exchange. I never received a refund or new product. Definitely a scam!
  • I got one of those and the sling. I had no problems with ordering or receiving. No baby yet, so I haven't used either of them. My sister uses the Udder Cover and has no complaints. Just be sure to wash it really well because it definitely has a chemical smell when you first get it.

I got two of the car seat covers. They were having a buy one get the second for $10 sale, so I got two for $10 plus the shipping. I thought it was a good deal, and they seem pretty nice quality too. I also got the belly bands but they ran a little bigger size than I thought they would. I still used the smaller one I had often during my second trimester when I still wore my jeans.
I've thought about getting the Udder Cover but I wasn't sure yet.

Update: checked the car seat cover website out of curiosity and the 2nd one for $10 thing is there still so maybe they do it all the time. But still, with the promotional code I think it's a good deal.
  • I have one and preferred using an A&A super lightweight swaddle blanket instead. It's not a scam, just not "free."

As a STM who nursed DD for 18 months, I found that the nursing cover was hard to handle, difficult to get baby latched around, and overall a PITA. I switched to using a swaddling blanket and found it WAY easier. Plus, to be honest, if you're trying to be discrete, the nursing blanket helps to make it look like baby is sleeping rather than eating.
  • I got one last time and they are just made from cheap cotton material. They work fine I guess but I wouldn't reccomend them personally. I would go with a lightweight muslin / gauze material one like they sell at target or just use an a&a swaddle blanket.

  • Thank you for all the feedback ladies!
I think I may go ahead and purchase one.

Good tip for anyone in a similar situation... I had entered all my information to go ahead and purchase but stopped just before entering payment method (so I entered my address and phone #), and I just left it on that page for a little while. I just received a text from them saying they noticed I hadn't completed my order and they would like to lower shipping to $12 instead of $15, and gave me a code to do so. It's only a couple $$, but every little bit helps!

I have some large swaddling blankets I could use as well if I don't end up liking this.

I got a text from them too when I was originally looking to purchase.
It annoyed me, the text came in at like 11pm and I don't remember clicking anywhere to allow texts to my phone. That alone stopped me from buying off their website. I also hate bargaining like that, so if I were to go ahead with the purchase they would never offer to give me another discount. Just because I held off on buying they all of a sudden will lower the price even more, sleazy.

This. Car seat covers for us was a waste when we could simply use a swaddle blanket.

  • I'm personally just not a fan of this business model. I'll probably just use a swaddle blanket or something(or not bother lol) but if I did I would rather give my money to someone who's being upfront about their pricing and not playing games with coupons for free stuf that isn't really free.
  • I caught on quickly that all these products are coming from the same company. And yes, not free. They are actually $15 a piece. If you buy anything, I would do the car seat canopy, but only if you like the print. The nursing cover I got is so ugly and I'll probably never use it. I've seen so many other cute "nursing scarfs" out there that I like better. So not a scam, cause you get a product, but not free at all since shipping is a steep $15. Shipping at most is costing them $5 per item, then probably $3 for the fabric. They are definitely making a profit!

I absolutely loved my uddercover. I received more expensive ones from my shower for my first baby, but wound up using the udder cover almost all of the time. It is a thin material (which was great for Texas summer) and it has a piece of plastic in the top to allow you to look down at baby more easily. I'm thinking of buying another for this baby. I do remember though it took a really long time to get shipped to me from that company.
  • I DID find the carseat canopy thing to be useful, though. It was great for colder weather when it was windy, misting a little outside or when it was snowing.

  • i got the udder cover with the promos i got from DM also. I have to say that i was really unimpressed with the quality of the cover. It's cheap crap... It's also a bit short (the photos are deceiving). I would splurge and maybe spend a few extra bucks and get something worth it.
