Low fluid..worried

I'm currently 35weeks pregnant & dr said my fluid is low he wants to see twice a week for an ultrasound. He said if I was further algo he would just have me deliver. Now I'm worried about the baby, has this happened to any 2nd & 3rds time moms out there?

Re: Low fluid..worried

  • I was told my fluid was high but then when I asked what normal was at the next appointment, I actually was normal (just on the higher end). Like with size, measurements can be off so I would def repeat it and compare and ask what it should be.

  • Thanks...he checked it Monday due to change in fetal movement & he said it was in the low side so he had me come in today & he said its dropping & to come in twice a week. It worries me that something could be wrong with baby.

Mine was low and they had me on an IV for 48 hrs. I was able to go home from the hospital when it was back up to normal level. It hasn't dropped again in 2 weeks. I get weekly ultrasounds to check fluid levels and other things.

  • I was low last week and started twice a week this past week. Today I am farther down...they monitored me for four hours and I will now be induced next Friday unless the little guy decides to come earlier. My original due date was 8/7... A July baby for me now, but the baby appears to be healthy.

  • Your fluid levels can fluctuate. Mine are hovering at around 6 right now (6-16 is considered normal levels) @ 37 weeks. They are checking me weekly. I was told to drink and hydrate as much as possible which should increase the amount of fluid baby produces. So drink tons of water and things like Gatorade to see if that helps keep fluid levels up and baby baking a bit longer.

  • I've also heard swimming/floating in a pool for at least 20-30 minutes a day is beneficial! It can help replenish amniotic fluid. Here's an actual research study that found this to be true!

  • Thanks I'm hoping they'll be higher by Monday. I've been drinking more water than usual & trying to rest.
  • No experience, but will keep you and LO in my thoughts, keep us posted!
  • What @jessyluscious77 said :) Your water levels do fluctuate.  It is even possible to get one result in the morning and another in the afternoon.  It is completely normal. I am not sure if it is just me and my high-risk pregnancy, but at each of my appointments, my doctor is assessing my amniotic fluid as part of a general checklist of items.  If I fail to meet the standards for 2 out of the 5 items assessed, they have stated that they send you in for an induction. Be sure you are doing all you can to keep hydrated!!!
  • Had a check up today, fluid levels are going up! So relieved, will continue to drink much more water.
