We had our mid-pregnancy US today and we're thrilled to know we're expecting a little boy. The doctor did say there were two things we should know about. They weren't able to confirm the 3 vessels that form the umbilical cord. They only observed 2 vessels but indirectly assume a third is present. They also noted a calcium deposit within the chambers of the heart. Both of these signs in conjunction could indicate a genetic abnormality such as downs. The doctor stressed he told us to be completely transparent but the chances are low for any issues. I appreciate the discussion he had with us but anything but a clean bill of health is hard to hear.

I'm hoping all the other moms with appointments today enjoyed seeing there LO. If you got some concerning news stay positive and I'll keep you in my thoughts.

Congrats on your little boy. I'll pray that it's all good despite the two concerns. It doesn't seem like your doctor is horribly concerned which is great news. Did they discuss any next steps? Will you be doing any more testing?

@AlejandraN2 We are going back for an additional US in the next 2 weeks. From there the doctor will decide if we should see a specialist.

Thanks everyone for your kind words of encouragement. We are so thankful to have this baby after a miscarriage earlier this year. We are going to love and fight for this baby.

I am currently awaiting my free cell dna test. Our baby girl has a cyst on her brain and a thick neuchal fold

@molly111 First, congrats on the baby boy! Very excited for you! I'll be praying for you that the US shows nothing to be worried about, and that the doctor is right about there being low chance for issues! Good luck! We had the same thing with our 2nd child she had calcium build up too but she was born perfectly healthy! Good luck to you and congrats!!!!

We are going through the same thing, I have a previous post as well.. sending you best wishes & blessings! Our little guy wouldn't show his face or let them get a good view of his heart - but they did see an EIF so we are going to MFM in a couple of weeks & hoping he's more cooperative!

**edited to add that I also had a quad screening done last week & currently waiting the results!

Ty you guys for the prayers. Still awaiting our phone call. The babys heart, kidneys, and bowels looked great. So i am hoping this all resolves itself. But it's good they have this test that will give us babys exact chromosomes. That will help me out some instead of giving me a result of 1 in however many chances of having an issue. Lots of love to all of you ladies!
