Irritated at starting Leave so early...

I really wanted to wait as long as possible before going on maternity leave. But after screwing up my pelvis yesterday and hardly being able to walk now...I had to start my leave today :(. I'm 38 weeks today, so it's not like it's that early. But there is now way that I'll be able to answer call lights, let alone walk down the hall of my unit to see patients for 12 hours straight.

Re: Irritated at starting Leave so early...

  • I understand being frustrated. I'll be 37 weeks when I start leave (next week) but it's doctors orders. I worked up until my EDD with DS and planned to do the same with DD. Seems like my body just isn't cooperating with my plans. It's just another one of those things that are out of your control. Try to enjoy your leave!

  • I'm sorry you had to go early but try to take this time to pamper yourself and get some much needed relaxation and sleep. I'm hoping they don't make me go on leave early because I've missed a week already due to swelling and pain caused by severe sunburn.
  • I'm worried I'll have to take leave early. Dr appointment tomorrow, so we'll see. I have no idea what I will do--I am only getting SIX weeks of leave and feel like even 6 weeks with baby isn't quite enough :-SS

I hope you have a longer leave and that your pain gets better before delivery!
  • I'm with you. I was planning on working until my due date. I worked until the end with my last two without any problems. But my doctor insisted it would be in me and baby's best interest to go out early this time. I've been out since 35 weeks. I'm bored but honestly, I've definitely felt better since I've stopped working.
  • Last week dr highly recommended I stop working. I'm with you on how hard this feels, I wanted every single minute of my 12 weeks with my little guy, not on my butt resting. I planned to work my last two weeks out, (also 38 weeks) I didn't get my way. On one extremely bright side this is a super awesome time for baby to have all of your bodies attention rather then part of it!! My leave started today, I can't help but be excited that he is almost here though!!!!
  • Enjoy your leave. I'm struggling at work and I'm pretty sure my boss knows I'm just showing up because I have to.

  • At least I don't have to worry about leaving my mom and sister at home while I work!
  • Tell me about it my leave was supposed to start tomorrow but payroll messed up my paperwork and I wasn't in the system starting on Thursday of last week. I'm a student so I serve year round so this last weekend was super crucial to me. Missed out on money unwillingly!!! Can't sit still and they say they can't do anything to fix the error.
