Here's a pic in case you guys don't know what I'm talking about...
I'm 37 weeks 3 days and I'm also in the middle of moving. I worked 50 hours last week and I've been sleeping on average 4 hours a night for the past week. I've been helping my boyfriend lift a lot of heavy furniture so that's giving me back pain and severe round ligament pain...so I used one of these babies the other day when shopping! I got SO many evil glares, bad judgment from people I know...saying I need to stick it out and waddle like the rest of them. But I wanna ask...is it really so bad? Have any of you used one during pregnancy??
Re: How many of you have used/would use one of those power carts at Walmart?
Now, would I care enough to judge you if I saw this? Nope.
Edit: And yes I should mention, like PP that if someone actually needed it I would feel bad. I just can't help but wonder about some of the people I've been seeing at my local Walmart riding them.. tho:/

I think you are confusing the term disabled with people who can't walk only. There are plenty of other disabilities that make it so that people need these chairs. There are people on oxygen who should only be walking short distances, there are elderly who can walk but it is very difficult for them, there are tons of disabilities in which the people can walk, but it is either extremely difficult or their Dr has ordered them not to walk far. There are also people who do come in with a wheel chair and/or walking aid who leave that at the door so that they can take one of the motorized ones with a basket. Also, hopefully this experience where you felt that you needed one enough to take one will make you think twice before side-eyeing anyone in the future who is on one, regardless of their weight. You don't know them or their medical history, you don't know if they have a medical condition that is causing them to be the size that they are, or maybe they just had surgery, or they have another ailment you can't see. I don't think many CHOOSE to be large. Next time someone makes a comment about your pregnant belly or anything you find offensive, imagine how they feel every day of their life. Maybe next time you will remember that you don't know their situation and that is someone's child, parent, sibling, aunt/uncle, grandmother/grandfather, etc. and you won't be so quick to judge.
Pregnancy isn't a disability, but some of the complications, including being in severe pain, would qualify as such.
Now what really gets me worked up is when I see people using the handicap parking spots when they don't need it (ie. Waiting for their spouse/partner/friend to run in the store "really quick")! That really ruffles my feathers! X(
I will say though, yesterday DH and I went to babies R us and Hubby forced me into a push wheelchair with a shopping cart attached. I got in it only because my sciatica had me limping all over the store and because I felt BRU would be forgiving. I didn't get any funny stares and honestly I didn't feel as bad for using it because of the context.
