okay I am 39 weeks and two days and I've only dilated a fingertip is that bad or good I go back Wednesday and they said something a about inducing my labor I'm really scared the is my first baby
I agree with pp. dilation means absolutely nothing. Some women walk around weeks at 4 can dilated, and go past their due dates, while some women aren't dilated at all and go into labor early.
As for the induction, I hope you consider the risks of being induced unnecessarily. There's a higher chance of having a longer labor, and a higher chance it could result in a c section. Unless it's medically necessary, I wouldn't recommend being induced.
Oh example just was induced Friday night. I was 5cm walking in the door. Who knows how long I was walking around like that since I hadn't had any regular contractions

They said he weights about 8pounds 12oz and that they didn't want me to go to 42 weeks and I'm having contractions and they hurt really bad they told me until my water broke then I wasn't in labour but

They told me my oldest wouldn't be an ounce over 6 lbs but he was 7 lbs 4 ounces. Drs/ultrasound techs/ultrasound machines are notorious for giving terrible weight estimates. And your water breaking is NOT the only way to be in active labor. I was in labor for hours before my water ever broke during both labors. Sounds like your dr needs to take another glance at their medical books.
Last time I went to L&D they told me I was having contractions and I wasn't even feeling some of them I'm having sharp pains in my pelvic area but sometimes it's in my stomach and back and pelvic and it feels like I'm having my period if these are contractions they will come and go they are not consistent like 4-5 minutes like they say the should be unless I'm not feeling them they told me to walk but it hurts to walk he has been a very active baby for the past few days

Weight estimates can be off +/- 2 lbs.
If/when your contractions are able to be timed and they last about a minute apart and come about 4-5 minutes apart, you are probably in labor. That warrants a call to your doctors office and they will probably send you to L&D.
Water breaking does not start active labor. My water broke when I was nearly dilated to 10, and was in very active labor. After the water actually broke baby arrived very shortly after. I have heard stories of the baby actually being born with the bag of water in tact.
~~~~~~~~~~~~ block quote fail ! Agree with PP Weight can be way off ! They estimated my son to be 7.5-8 lbs and no bigger. He was born 39w5d weighing 9.7 lbs. My water broke before my contractions. But lots of time your water doesn't break until your almost pushing and sometimes the Dr will break it. If you time them and they get closer your in active labor.
I went back to L&D today I'm still only a finger tip and it's been a week I was having contractions well what I thought was contractions and it's just the baby moving around and baxton hick contractions I go to my ob on Wednesday so we will see what they decided to do thanks everyone for all te advice
The will get stronger as you walk. Keep walking it'll bring them on more.
