16 weeks

I will be 16 weeks on Wednesday and have another appointment tomorrow. Do you think I'll be able to find out the sex or probably not until my next appointment which will probably be 20 weeks?

Re: 16 weeks

  • Have you scheduled your anatomy scan yet? With Kaiser, they only do it between 18-20 weeks and that's when you can find out. It's usually scheduled at your 12-16 week appointment.

  • Awww okay. They never said anything to me so maybe I'll have to schedule is tomorrow. Thank you!!
  • They never said anything to me about it either, then when I asked that's what I was told :-) Good luck!
  • My anatomy scan was at 15 weeks. That's the standard at my ob. They will probably be able to take a good guess at 16weeks

If you get an ultrasound and the baby is in good position you should find out. I'm kaiser so we'll have our next ultrasound 2 weeks from today, when I'm 18 weeks.

Fwiw, there is concern in the medical community about unnecessary ultrasounds. The modern ones have not been thoroughly tested for safety and are much stronger than the ones that were. I've already had 3 because we needed a dating scan and we had an elevated risk of downs based on blood test (everything is fine) but I'm going to decline any additional ones after the anatomy scan. I really wanted to just have 2. My twins had TONS of ultrasounds. I want to let this little bug grow in peace. :)
  • Probably if baby cooperates. I had a mini anatomy scan today at 15w5d and she verified that the sex was indeed correct.

  • I'm high risk so I've had a bit of ultrasounds, they did my nt scan at 13 weeks. I asked because I was curious, but of course fully knowing it was probably too early. The tech actually told me 80% sure it's a boy. They said to confirm in a few weeks, our next app is July 30th so I'll try to confirm then. I think every doctor is different and also depends on the tech too!
