Post partum bleeding

hello ladies ! I'm just curious of how much bleeding you are having and how long post partum you are? When did your bleeding slow down ?

Re: Post partum bleeding

  • I am 6 days post and my bleeding is very light. Barely filling a normal pad....I'm having more blood clots than actual bleeding. Mine drastically slowed down by the day I came home (3 days post)

  • I'm 4 days pp, basically zero blood for me, it's been very light since day 2.
  • Man, everyone talks about it like an uncontrollable release like the elevators in The Shining.
  • I'm a week postpartum and I don't have much bleeding at all. Had pretty big clots the first couple of days but bleeding has always been very light!
  • My bleeding was very heavy the first 5 days like I needed 3 overnight pads put together. . Then it slowed down where I just needed a panty liner till 3 weeks post.
  • With my first I had steady to heavy period bleeding and clotting for 6 weeks I expect just as much if not more this time. But my uterus is extremely stretched out by the twins this time around. You are more likely to get heavy gushes when you breastfeed the first few days. Breastfeeding helps shrink the uterus faster. :)
  • My bleeding is not as bad as last time I gave birth. I am six days post and it's light. I am wearing regular pads.
  • 5 days post partum, using regular pads at this point. Changing them frequently but more for sanitation than necessity. Definitely heavier when I overdue it around the house.
  • Day 2 and I could wear a liner other than right after we finish breast feeding. Always get that stand up gush type thing afterwards as of today. Been in a regular pad the whole time tho.

  • Bleeding was really bad for two days after delivery.. After that I had a light period that lasted for 4 weeks by week 5 spotting here and there it sucked big time ...
  • 5 days pp I switched from heavy to thin pads and by day 14 I was just using panty liners. It is more of a colored discharge than blood for me!
  • 11 days pp and bleeding has slowed down a lot. Can use regular pads, yesterday we where walking for 4 hours after that I was bleeding a bit more. For me too it looks like colored discharge not blood.

With my first, I bled a lot for two weeks and needed a pad or liner for 4 weeks.

This time, it slowed before I left the hospital and as of last night, no bleeding at all and I'm 10 days post today.

  • With my first, it was heavy for most of the 6 weeks. It would lighten up and then get heavy again. I felt like I was cleaning up from a murder scene every time I went to the bathroom. With this one, it's not bad at all. I delivered 3 days ago and it was moderate to heavy the day I delivered and then lightened considerably. I'm still wearing depends because I keep expecting it to get heavy but if it doesn't change today, I'll switch to regular pads. The nurse and I were chatting about it at my discharge yesterday and she said it really depends on the pregnancy, after some deliveries, women have tons of bleeding and after others, it's pretty light. Just know that you can bleed on and off for up to 6 weeks. After that, it should stop. The nurse also mentioned that it tends to be heavier if you breastfeed as well as after periods of increased activity.
  • I'm 2 weeks pp and still bleeding pretty steadily. It lightened up a lot at about a week pp. I bled for almost a full 6 weeks with my first, so I'm hoping I don't bleed that long this time.
  • Will be three weeks pp tomorrow, and it's very light now. It was never a heavy flow though. No clotting at all since giving birth.
  • A week and half after delivering our baby girl, I'm still bleeding a bit, definetly still need a heavy pad (but not filling a pad in an hour-which our doctor said that would be when to call).
  • I'm glad to hear how everyone is different ! I passed a huge clot last night the size of a small orange, my dr. Said not to worry but I am 5 days no pp and still bleeding heavy, but it sounds like some people just bleed more than others !
