CHANGES IN NB BOWEL MOVEMENTS

Hi ladies!! Question not sure if it's just me but I've noticed the changes in my daughters poop...she's only 3 weeks ... Her poop used to be a normal Dijon mustard seedy look when I give her formula but when I breastfeed which is majority of the time her poop is like a hilited green I was gonna take her to the doctors on Monday but wanted to see if I'm the only one dealing with this?

    My understanding is that breastfed green poo means that the baby is not getting enough "hind milk" - ie. He's not feeding from one boob long enough to get to the high calorific stuff at the back of your boob. Try feeding for longer on each boob and/or starting each feed from the boob you last fed on.

    This happened to me. Do you eat a lot of dairy? Milk and cheese? I did. Dr said newborns typically need to be weaned onto cows milk products if you eat them a lot and are brestfeeding.

    I completely cut out dairy for 2 weeks (harder than it sounds...everything delicious, including most processed foods with flavors in them, includes milk) and it went back to normal. I'm slowly weaning back on now. So far so good.

    It could be a foremilk/hindmilk imbalance, but that typically causes frothy looking green stool. DDs wasn't frothy, just green, and dairy appears to have been responsible.

    My kids seem to poop green on formula and yellow on breast milk. I think both are normal.
