Ok, I will start this by saying that over the course of these last few months I have become pretty familiar with my baby's movement patterns as I am sure many of you have.
Every morning I wake up, drink OJ, lay back down, and feel her move. This morning I only felt one slight movement which is not normal, usually it's a dance. So I drank a glass of ice water to see if that would help. Again, I got one or two small movements but then nothing.
A little later DH and I went for a walk followed by a swim. I wasn't feeling her move at all. So now I am concerned. I eat lunch and feel one little roll. This is not what I'm used to!
I decided to contact the on call Dr and head into L&D to make sure she's ok in there. Long story short, she is totally fine! Thank you God. I knew if I didn't go in I would be worried sick about it so I'm glad I did. In hindsight, I was over analyzing everything and if I am completely honest the post from earlier this week really got to me and has been on my mind constantly.
This post is for anyone who may have also found themselves worried or anxious lately....
The nurse who took care of me at L&D said this: if you feel ANY movement at all then baby is just fine! You don't have to feel 10 kicks in 2 hours or whatever the kick count norm is. The time to be concerned is if you don't feel any movement whatsoever for 2 or 3 hours. If that happens, drink an ice cold sugary drink followed by a very cold ice water. Lay down and feel. If you don't feel any movement at all for 30 minutes, go to the hospital.
Of course, if you have other instructions from your dr then that's what you should go by. I should also say that I am not high risk.
Anyways, I just thought maybe this might be helpful for someone who may be feeling extremely vigilant lately.
Re: been feeling worried
I am very glad I came in to get checked though because it's so nice to just know everything is fine.
Glad all worked out well for you ladies! Even though we are so close to the end it is still nerve wrecking!
! I am so glad to hear everything is OK!
