Mine just had her 5 week appt. and gained over 2 lbs from birth weight (after losing 1 lb in her first 3 days!) And most importantly to me, her head circumference went from 88% to 75%!
LO got her 6 week shots today. Screamed her little head off like I've never seen. Poor girl. Dr advised not to give Tylenol unless absolutely necessary but his opinion isn't the end all be all so I'll see how she fares.
I don't know what chart he's using but the percentiles I have for her are 78th for weight according to U.S. and he said 55th so...who knows.
I don't know why but I have this feeling that if my child isn't fat beyond all measure then I'm not doing my best breastfeeding. I don't know why I can't shake that even though I know breastfed babies are often leaner. I was a giant baby and I was breastfed so who knows if that's where I'm getting my insecurity from.
The doctor also said she should be taking 5oz of BM per feeding...WUT? She's been gaining over an oz a day but does not take even close to 5 oz.

Sorry for the poor man's siggy...ticker won't load regardless of how many tips I read.
LO had his 1 month check up today, he now weighs 7lbs even which is 2lbs up from his birth weight and he has grown another inch and is now at 20 in. LO is not a happy camper right now since he got his second dose of HEP B vaccine today.

It has been my experience that doctors may not be the best source of information about breastfeeding. Maybe just listen to him about LO's health and seek other advice on BFing. 5oz is insane. My LO has never taken that much BM from breast or bottle. I don't produce that from both breasts and he generally only takes one breast. He was 7lbs at birth and is 14-15lbs at 7 weeks. If he was taking 5oz I can't imagine how huge he'd be!
@henrytviii EXACTLY. all they care about is that you're exclusively breastfeeding, but have no info/help otherwise. She's been taking between 2.5-3 oz every time I do a dry weight at my BF group and has been gaining more than "normal". But he made me feel like I wasn't feeding her enough even though the facts state otherwise.

We get all shots at the 2 month visit. I'm not at all looking forward to it!
@dancegurl1118 I'm obsessed with LO having her weight and height in close alignment. She's 49% for weight but only 20% for height and it's bothering me... because I'm crazy.
Master P is 3 weeks old today but had his 2 week visit today. (He had gone in 3 times for weight before he was 2 weeks old so this was an official visit vs a weight concern visit) He has regained his birth weight (exactly) and doc is pleased with his feeding regiment of boob and formula. He figures that LO is probably getting 50-65% of his nutrition from breastmilk, so that makes me happy. We were given the all clear for tummy time and regular baths (we had been waiting just a little bit because once his stump came off his belly button oozed a bit). I had to take a PPD questionnaire, which was a joke. Next visit at 2 months old! Feels weird to not be making a trip to the drs office (both my OB and the ped are located in the same place - one lobby is across from the other) in my future, as I've been there weekly since mid May.

Girrrrrlllllll!!!! High fives and dance party!! That's freaking awesome after all you've been through! Way to go, mama!
Our next visit is at 2 months too, and LO will get all his shots. I'm so nervous about it. At his one month last week he had gained 4 lbs...I was shocked! He was in the 85th percentile for weight and 75th percentile for height. He had grown two inches.
@mellymar I agree it feels strange to not be going to the doctor every five minutes, although I do have my 6 week check up next week.
When we went in for LO 2 week appt last week she had gained 6.5 oz in a week, but was still not at her birth weight, grew an inch and a half since birth (which astonished me) and her head shrunk by a 1/4". I still think LO was swollen with fluids when born. She weighed 9#2oz and had a head circ of 15". She had on avg 6 poops a day in the hospital and my milk had not come in yet and she wasn't on any formula.
Way to go @mellymar and all the other mommas out there who were worried about LO's gaining enough. You're all doing awesome!
We had our 1 month appt today. LO was 9lb 10oz and 21.5", which puts her in the 70% and 55%, respectively. I was given the OK to try probiotics for the gas issues and her breathing noises could be reflux, so we have a prescription for that if the probiotics don't help. Hopefully that will resolve quickly. I was happy she gained 2lb 11oz from when we left the hospital.
I swear every pedi must have a different chart because I had almost the exact stats for her 1 mo and my pedi said she was like in the 30th percentile for weight. And on my phone app it said she was 60th and 88th for height (same height). Weird.

DD had a pediatric cardiology appointment today. At her 2 week check her dr heard a heart murmur. Thankfully, today went well. The cardiologist said it's an innocent murmur that should go away on its own! She has no holes and her valves look good. We are so relieved! She's our first LO and it freaked me out to go to a cardiologist with her!
@samantham0305 my youngest daughter (4) had the same thing. She went back when she turned a year and it had gone away! Sounds very very similar to what you are going thru! Glad everything looked good for LO
LO had her 1 month appointment Thursday, she's 5 weeks as of yesterday. She's gained 2lb 6 oz since birth and is now 9lb9oz. After all of the breastfeeding issues at the start it's a relief to know that she is now getting everything she needs from me (currently ebf). I am one happy momma! She's 22 in up 2in from birth. I hate the percentile charts so I plan on pretty much ignoring them as long as she's gaining weight. Looks good, keeps growing and is healthy.
For those of you who had reflux diagnosed, what were the symptoms? We had our 5 week appt and since then LOs pain after feeding and gas have worsened. She spits up at literally every feeding, and after every burp. Just not sure if we should ride it out to the 2 month appt.
@hoodoll82 Spitting up, grunting, wheezing, labored breathing accompanied by arching her back, twisting, and fighting a swaddle. She would get grunty/angry 1 hour after eating like clockwork. Nights are worse than days. These are typical symptoms according to her ped.
She's also a comfort nurser, which makes since if she has reflux (always wanting to swallow). The best position to soothe her is upright on my chest. She also has been sleeping worse on her back and does best in her bouncy seat. These aren't official symptoms but they make sense for reflux.
We started Zantac this morning. I think it can take a few days but I will let you know how tonight goes. The good thing is they grow out of it.
ETA tag and we don't have much awake, not angry time at 4 weeks. Today we already saw a huge improvement but for the last week or so, if she was awake, she was clearly uncomfortable and unhappy.

Love you ladies so much for the support and camaraderie. :x
the doctor called her a "tank" ha
