Problem with UTI & yeast inf.

Since I went to the hospital at around 5w, I've been informed of a UTI that I just can't feel (I've had UTI's before that were extremely painful) and it seems to still be here (the only indication I have is cloudy urine, which the doctors told me to look out for) So I can't really tell if I still have it but if so I've had it for an alarmingly long period of time. Not to mention the yeast infection I've had (literally) since I found out about my pregnancy! I have only had a few in my life so I can only assume this is what this is, I told my doctor who gave me a pap (it is not an STD) but said nothing else on what treatment I should follow. It's very irritating considering it's been 2+ months since I've slept with mt husband! Plus the constant itching I'm doing in my sleep has rubbed my skin raw, sometimes I awake to it lightly bleeding, it is super painful and embarrassing and I'm just praying one of you ladies can help with some kind of advice because I'm at mt wits end with all of this and I thought this would have cleared up by now!

Re: Problem with UTI & yeast inf.

  • That sounds horrible! I'm so sorry! If you do, in fact, have a yeast infection, pregnant women can do a 3 or 7 day monistat treatment. You should check with you OB to be sure that this is appropriate for you. Mine told me that yeast infections can cause irritation of the cervix/ vaginal tissue that leads to bleeding. Have they offered you any treatment for the UTI? It sounds like you need to have a serious talk with your OB and get these issues addressed. Two month is way too long to be suffering. Also, I am a huge believer in culturelle to combat certain unpleasantries relating to pregnancy (and those of being a woman in general). I take it twice daily, and I would highly recommend it, just from my own personal experience. I hope you feel better soon!

I'm super prone to yeast infections. Since I've become pregnant I have Found if I sleep without bottoms I don't get one. Also my friend whose pregnant just had a UTI and found out hers was caused by strep b.
  • Had a UTI around 11w or 12w. OB prescribed antibiotic for me Amoxicilan and also checked for a yeast infection. I cleared up within 1 week of using the antibiotics and was lucky enough not to have a yeast infection. Don't sit and suffer you obviously need to get this treated.
