Okay, I swear I'm going to ring my SO's neck. I have bought MAYBE 4 things for baby girl, a little outfit, a hat, a pair of shoes etc and everytime he says ' please wait to buy things until after the baby shower'. F O ! If I want to buy things for baby I will. First of all I work and contribute to everything evenly and the baby shower is planned only from MY side with MY family going. His family wants to do their own after baby is born. Ugh. I just want to kick him. Rant over.

  • My husband is saying the same thing but I'm not the one buy the stuff.. My mom and a few other people that know they will be out of town for our shower have already given me the gifts they were going to give me.. I'm just like I DONT CONTROL THEIR LIFE DAMMIT.. Sometimes I just want to punch my DH in the nose.. With a table.. I love him to pieces but jeesh

Likely you will get a lot of clothes at a shower, I have a lot of clothes from my 1.5 year old daughter, that doesn't mean I won't buy her something special from her momma! Also. My baby wore shoes long before she walked... She was born in February. Remember, we are having winter babies and sometimes thin baby socks just dotlnt cut it, especially if you go out walking year round.

  • I just had an argument over a shitty paint job on closet doors in the nursery. If your not going to do it right don't do it. It will save me the hassle of having to fix it AND do it. He just looked at me like I was nuts that no one will notice the paint drips and clumps of nail fill that he didn't sand. Ummm I noticed! Grrrr. I know he is trying but.....
  • I'm glad I'm not the only one! I know I will get lots but I couldn't help myself! Baby shower isn't tell the end of September and not having anything makes me feel so uneasy si once and awhile I'll make a small purchase just to make ne feel like I am somewhat prepared haha. He just drives me bonkers sometimes! Plus we don't even take possession of our home until October. He doesn't get that I have nothing to feel organized about especially when I'm a big planner usually.

  • I have bought so much stuff already! My sister is the one telling me to wait until my shower so I don't have to spend my money on it - she wants me to register for it instead. But I can't help myself! Every time I go to Target I end up leaving with at least one if not 5 things for our little guy! And I know it's super early but at our wedding my husband and all the groomsmen wore white jordan shoes with their tuxes and they have them in kids so I bought the smallest size they had! (I know it will be a long time before he can wear them but I couldn't help myself!)
  • I have had two boys and am now expecting a girl there is no waiting lol! Dh gets this so our compromise is I only shop the clearance area and I buy 6 months and up. Because we are having a girl both his family and mine are throwing separate sprinkles for us. Dh figures that everyone will buy newborn or 3 months so buying bigger sizes is good. Babies R us had a great sale going with extra off of clearance items and the baby bedding was on sale. But lucky for me DH is just as bad
  • I am the odd one out I guess, with my first I had maybe 4 showers total and got hardly any clothes!!! I got a ton of other useful stuff. I think with 3 kids I have only had to buy baby soap once! I hate doing laundry all the time so my boys had enough clothe for like 2 weeks without me having to fold them. Plus sometimes they can go through 3-4 outfits in a day. I have a ton of hand me downs from having all boys but that doesn't mean if I see something cute and on sale in not going to get it for my baby :)

I've bought some things. But it's off season. I can't find clothes that are warm yet. Where are you ladies buying your clothes?

I just seen at the Children's Place they have clothes out already for fall. I have been searching so I can start buying since I won't be having a shower, it's my 3rd but my first boy. The prices were extremely reasonable and they had sales going on for all the summer stuff which is great to stock up for next summer.

I've been looking at Carters and Children's Place. Carters already has winter coats out even for older kids. Plus both stores are always giving out coupons.
  • I went to a consignment store and got a LOT of items for not a ton of money. I love a good consignment store!
  • My hubby is ok with me buying stuff he actually gets all excited when i show him what I have bought. But my co worker in other hand i just wanna kick her. I work at a retail store so if she even see me looking at baby stuff she start "dont buy that, wait seriously u should wait till baby shower , stop wasting your money" etc etc. I just wanna literally kick her. She makes so upset, its my baby its my money I' ll spend it if i want to
  • I have so far been successful in resisting, mostly because I know anything I buy has to be packed into boxes until we move (though Target has a batman onesie that might make me loose the battle).  But my mom informed me she already filled a box with pink clothes, and will be starting a second box soon, and MIL is crazy excited we're having a girl because buying clothes for girls is more fun than buying clothes for her grandson, so I bet she's started a stash too.  I foresee a lot of trips to the consignment store getting rid of un-worn NB clothes in my future.
  • I guess I'm lucky on that my husbands only child is 19 now so he kind of let's me do my thing but we are stocked on clothes from 0 to 6 months he did say I should slow down until the shower now though but we are asking for diapers and wipes for the shower
  • Hahahaha! Amen. Not just my hubby, but everyone keeps yelling at me (and ive barely gotten anything also). I think they all need to mind there own business. My money in can do what I want, lol. Glad I'm not the only one. There will be tons on the registry.

If it helps, DH got on me for putting shit on the registry. This baby is my first and his second and he hopped all over my case for putting a jumperoo on it because he already bought one when my 5yo SD was a baby... mind you, the jumperoo he is speaking of is currently located 6 hours away in his (chain-smoking) father's house... so no doubt it smells like smoke. If we get a new one, I don't feel like anything will be hurt, and if we don't, it won't bother me either. All of my other mommy friends have told me to register for anything and everything especially for the completion coupons. So it's just kind of frustrating how adamant he was about not even putting it on there.
(We had this same discussion about strollers too, because he thought it was ridiculous that I registered for a travel system)

Thank you!! Looks like I'm going shopping tomorrow.
  • That mentality drives me bonkers, I am having the opposite scenario with my love. He is buying everything LOL
