Can't circumcise baby boy?

So our new little boy can't be circumcised, his urethra ends at the top of his penis instead of the very end. So our pediatrician said not to circumcise... Now I get to explain this to my husband's family that is Jewish and will go insane if he is not circumcised, medical excuse or not. :-(

Well they should understand that he can't medically have it done. But maybe go to a few different pediatricians for assurance that this is the case? Then you can have a few second opinions to use w the family. Good luck, I am sure this is tough!

  • yeah, maybe get some other opinions of you really wish for him to be circumcised? one of my nephews had a similar problem and is circumcised now though I think it took a few procedures. good luck!

I would recommend getting a second opinion. In my experience (but I'm in Mexico), I saw 2 paediatricians and they both told me they wouldn't circumcise if it wasn't really needed and I've heard that a lot since he was born almost 6 years ago, so maybe your doctor thinks the same and is just trying to avoid it? Why don't you get a second opinion from a Jewish doctor?
  • My son can't be circumcised right now because he is having an issue with webbing but we saw a urologist who will do the surgery once he is 7-8 months, he just needs more time. I would suggest seeing a children's urologist.
  • They will circumcise at 6 months to a year...the extra skin is what is used to fix the problem and then they can do it and by the time he is 4ish no one will ever know...we have the same thing going on, had never heard if it till now and in the past week I've heard it happens a lot...no need for second opinion just get them to give you all the details
