Shopping for my completion discount - what items have you been super glad for?

I know we've discussed our favorite baby items, but a lot of that thread was people gushing about their rock n plays, or their swings, or larger ticket items. At this stage I'm not really interested in purchasing a mamaroo or a puppycuddle swing or whatever its called. I'm more interested in the small items that make your life easier.

For example - I'm going to get another pack of Aden and anais swaddle blankets, they're expensive, yes, but LO and mom and dad both love them. I was also planning on a microwave sterilizer. And I am really interested in sleep sacks / swaddle sacks. I know @virginiaunicorn11 mentioned her woombie and I added one to my registry so I can purchase one, but has anyone else used a ready made swaddle sack and loved it?

So, help me round out my baby supply most efficiently. What kind of boring, seemingly mundane items make your days and nights with LO easier?

Re: Shopping for my completion discount - what items have you been super glad for?

  • Aden and anais make awesome swaddle sacks too that my DS loves! They also make wearable blankets that we haven't tried yet but I'm sure will be great when he is a little bigger. I also love their burpy bibs!
  • Loading the player...
  • I also love those muslin blankets. My kiddos never liked the swaddle sacks, but the sleep sacks (no swaddle, arms are free) are great for cold weather.

Here are a few other things I like:
Dr. Brown's bottles, bottle drying rack, 6-bottle cooler (if you need to transport bottles to daycare), Bumbo with tray attachment (when they're older), blanket/lovie for when they start to self soothe.

I'm sure there is more, but that's what comes to mind right now.
  • Halo Sleepsack Swaddler (has the Velcro that you fold over). Your LO will sleep in that Pack n Play in no time ;) I swear this is the key to our sleep success.

We started out using Summer Infant Swaddler Pods but I think our LO didn't like those because they're so tight around the legs. If her arms are going to be swaddled, she needs to be able to kick freely, apparently. LOL
  • Mine looks bed the summer infant swaddles. At a point when LO was only getting up once in the middle of the night ( he now sleeps through it) One night I slept downstairs and my husband did not use it in him. He woke up about 4 times that night. The next night he begged me to use the swaddle on him and he only woke up once.

I also second the Medea bags. They are so convenient.

Those are my two favorite items for LO.
  • We're loving the Halo Sleep Sack. Looks like a bag attached to a vest. They zip from the top down so you can change diapers without taking the whole thing off. I agree about the Dr. Browns bottles and sterilizer as well. Another item I'm glad we got is a white noise machine. I don't know if it helps us or LO more, but it helps drown out some of the grunts and squeaks at night.

We use the Halo SureSwaddle and love it (arms in, legs able to move)
Dr Browns bottles, Medela steam bag
Super cheap vibrating bouncer (can move around house)
Wubanub paci (I like bc the animal will balance on his chest and If it pops out he can relatch himself a lot of the time)
I use a white noise playlist on my phone but that's a must for us too
    Boppy
Clay hot/cold therapy thing from CVS (hot for increasing pumping time/out put, cold thrown in ice chest with milk)
    Baby K'tan
  • Lol, my babe loses his mind now when I try to use the Woombie!

We've been enjoying the bandana-style bibs that protect against spit up and save changing clothes constantly.

We also love sleep gowns with open bottom for easy diaper changes. If you want to get fancy, Kicky Pants is the softest, most amazing brand for those.

I bought LO a sun hat that we use daily.

If you don't have enough good nursing bras, add those. Getting that situation sorted changed my life, and took me way too long. I still need to buy a sleep bra.
  • Our LO hates the Halo swaddle, but loves the A+A one, so I'd go for more of those and cloth diapers. We don't do the cloth thing, but we use them for cleaning up all of his various liquid messes and they're soft. He likes to lay on them during tummy time too, because he likes the texture.
  • The Brica car seat canopy/cover. It's SPF 50 and keeps all bugs out. I like to be outside and then we can ALL be outside. Best money ever spent
  • Oh yes! Ditto @klkonwi on the big/sun cover! Can't believe I forgot. Bugs are horrible here plus it doubles as a breathable canopy so people don't get too close when out :\">
  • @klkonwi thanks for the recommend on that car seat cover! Its WAY better than the mosquito net thing I was going to get.

@teather5 and anyone else who uses a Ktan - do you have the breeze or regular version? The breeze would be good for the remainder of summer here cause I don't have ac, but once it gets cold here, its COLD. I'm trying to weigh the benefit of having it be cooler while I'm out and about this summer (or moving around the house) vs when I may want to wear it in the winter (but then, I will probably be only wearing it inside in the winter, not outside. Its just too damned cold to be outside, period)

I have the regular ktan-- she definitely gets steamy in it, but she sweats anyway regardless. I use it for short walks or inside like the grocery store. I figured it's only one more month of super hot weather.
TTC: 1/2014 BFP: 9/24 EDD: 6/8/2015 Sorry for the poor man's siggy...ticker won't load regardless of how many tips I read.

True. Ha! My brain is stuck in June, lol. I keep thinking we have ALL of July left and August still. September it begins to get cool here

  • I am totally buying that car seat canopy!

I third (or fourth?) the Medela sterilizing bags...
  • Yes you guys the best purchase/invention ever made for summer babies. We were able to go to a parade in town and we can sit out at the farm and he's protected! Love it.
  • We give one bottle a day and are still in love with the bottle warmer seriously makes us miss it when we are out and about.
  • I didn't read everyone's replies but the #1 thing is the Halo sleep sacks with the swaddle part. We only have two and just wash often. Wish we had 3 or 4. Socks, bibs and burp cloths you will need a to of. We have too many blankets to tell the truth and way too many towels/washcloths. Hope this helps! Enjoy your lil one!!!
  • We use both the halo sleep sacks and the summer swaddlers. L/O likes both, but I think she likes the halo better because she can kick more.

Aden & Anais burp rag/bibs are amazing! Someone gave me a few and they are great for burping b/c they are shaped to fit over the shoulder.
  • We love our moby baby wrap/carrier. My little one always wants to be held so this allows me to get stuff done!

One thing I got that I didn't think I would use, but is now one of my must haves is the snuggleroo baby bean bag chair. It's light so it's easy to carry from room to room to have a place to plop baby down in.
  • I'm really loving my brest friend nursing pillow. If the boppy isn't working for you for whatever reason look into it.
