So I am going to be almost 13 weeks when I will be getting my cvs test. I am super nervous about it being painful as I don't do very good with pain. Can someone tell me about their experience? Thanks!
I had mine yesterday. The procedure itself was short, it took longer to set up! It was not the most comfortable. Do you know if they are doing it vaginally or through the abdomen. My doc preferred abdomen, he felt it was safer and with where placenta was that was best. They did an ultrasound before. Are they going to give you the option of numbing? As a tip, if they do it vaginally and offer anesthetic, ask if they can see what they need easily. If they can, then it is not worth getting anesthesia as it is a short procedure. Otherwise, it is worth it. Feel free to reach out w/more questions. Good luck!
First time poster here. I had mine done on Wednesday and it was done through my stomach. It was more painful than I was expecting, but based on everything I read and what the doc said, I was expecting the discomfort to be similar to a Pap smear. They used a local numbing agent and the doctor was wonderful. It was over with very quickly and I'm very thankful that I was able to take the rest of the day off and relax - I would suggest doing that if you are able. If there is anything else I can share just let me know. Good luck.
@katyschafer - Welcome! I am still feeling slight discomfort from yesterday. Do you feel back to "normal?" I spent the day resting. Sending good thoughts your way and I hope you get your results soon.
@skfg My belly is still tender but other than that I am feeling better. I have a job where I am on my feet all day so I took any chance I could get to sit down yesterday and today. I think that helped. I got the results yesterday and everything looked good, which was a huge relief after the first trimester screening came back positive on Monday. I hope you feel totally recovered ASAP and that your results come back quickly!
So glad your results came back as normal. I should get mine Monday. We did NT and cell free DNA and based on percentages from DNA test, we have a high likelihood of Down's. We also had to make a fast decision w/CVS as I was in my 13th week. The hardest thing right now is that I can't help out w/my 13 month old as I was told not lift more than 5 lbs for a week.
