1. I was heavier to start with, 5'5" 200 pounds. So far I've gained 7 pounds and I'm 17 weeks. I'm not worried so far because I know I'm going to gain weight. It's pretty inevitable. I was just wondering if there are any other moms out there in the same boat, and if their doctor has said anything about how much weight they should gain since they're already on the bigger side. I'm being told 15 pounds?
2. My tummy is getting darker more noticeable hair! What do I do?!?!
3. My mom has encouraged me to do aerobics or lamas (spelling?) classes. Thoughts and opinions.
Thanks in advance mommies to be!
Re: First time mom with 3 questions!!!!
2. Shave it!
3. Aerobics are fantastic for pregnant women as long as you don't push yourself too hard. It'll help with an easier labor and recovery.
Lamaze classes are like childbirth classes, Google away and get some info! Your hospital probably offers some kind of childbirth classes, ask for info next time you have an appointment!
I shave it. It has not gotten any worse, darker, or more hairy pregnant or not pregnant. The only difference is pregnant it grows back faster. I got my first belly hairs while pregnant with my second son (11 years ago). Those hairs never went away!!!
I was also on the heavier side having a few extra pounds (ok like 20). My OB has not said anything to me yet about limiting my weight gain (and for her safety I really hope she doesn't ever). I have gained a total of about 10 pounds with pregnancy. I do try and watch what I eat but sometimes (more often than not) I cave, I cave hard... Don't stress to much about it though really.
Edited for clarity
Before pregnancy and they say to ease into exercise if you haven't been like walking, swimming etc. Also being in the water feels so great!
I know a friend who is on the bigger side and she is like 22 weeks and has only gained one pound. She said she eats a lot healthier now that she is pregnancyt.
As for exercise, get as much as you can. It will help with getting the baby weight off after birth and will help with labor and delivery. Plus, it'll just make you feel better about yourself. If you are not used to working out, start by walking everyday or take prenatal classes at a local gym, wellness center or yoga studio.
My Chiropractor said "in theory" at my weight I could go through the whole pregnancy and maintain my intake and while baby is growing I could be technically loosing weight. That would be medically fine for me.
All in all, I am just trying not to gain 50+ pounds. It would hurt my joints too much I think.
My hair is also growing like crazy!!! Not enjoying the ones on my belly. I've been plucking the more noticeable ones.
I've started pregnancy yoga classes? Supposed to help with the birth. I also have regular chiropractic care which is a godsend. Considering some water aerobics that I've seen advertised.
2. Haven't gotten the hair but shave it if you want to
3. No aerobics unless you were active prepregnancy, ask your Dr, don't start a new exercise program while pregnant...I was allowed to continue to ride only because I did it before I got pregnant with only a no jumping/galloping restriction. Maybe try pregnancy yoga if you are looking for something to do?
3b. Lamaze is birth prep class.
2. I am so over the excessive hair growth. The hair on my belly is blonde right now so I'm not doing anything with it yet. My other hair is enough to make me crazy- especially my arm pits
3. I think anything within reason is fine. Just be aware of your limits and don't let yourself get exhausted before you stop. At my last appointment my doctor also said that I have placenta Pervia (which is normal) but if I experience any bleeding or if it hasn't fixed itself by my next appointment I will be on pelvic rest, so I am taking it much easier than before.
2. I just shave the hair. I usually have it anyway with PCOS and have found shaving to be the easiest for me.
3. Exercise within reason and check with your doctor before starting something new. If you've been mostly sedentary up to now aerobics might not be the best to start with. There are some pregnancy yoga classes at a beginner level that might be a better fit. Honestly even just walking would be good, go with someone and if you can't keep up a conversation you're working too hard. My doctor also recommends swimming during pregnancy. The buoyancy can be really nice.
