What do I need?

I have family and friends who keep asking me what I need so they can start to look at baby shower gifts. The problem is I have no idea what I need? I have nothing except a high chair for my son, I'm 28 weeks. The reason I haven't been getting stuff is because I have nowhere to keep it! I currently sleep on my grandmas couch. So I guess my question is what are the essentials that I need? So I can start making a list and letting people know(:

Essentials would be something for baby to sleep in (bassinet, pack n play, etc), clothes, diapers and wipes, bottles, breast pump if you're BFing, car seat...I can't think of anything else major right off the top of my head. Worst case you could always say you haven't decided exactly what you'll be needing because you aren't sure how you'll store it all so gift cards would be nice (then you can get exactly what you want/need once you figure it out).

  • Your gonna need a lot of sleepers, outfits not so much but sleepers, I like the zipper kind, they are so much easier at 4 am ! You'll also need something for your LO to sleep in, a car seat, bottles if your pumping or using formula.(also a pump if you choose to BF). Baby shampoo, face cloths, You'll need lots of diapers and wipes, you don't really need a whole lot of stuff for the first few weeks.

Also a baby carrier or stroller!
  • Somewhere for baby to sleep, something for baby to eat, something for baby to wear, diapers, wipes, carseat. That's it. You can use plain dove soap instead of buying baby soap. They are super easy the first two months.
  • It might be a good idea to add gift cards of different values (Amazon, Target, etc.) to your registry along with essentials. That way, you can pick things up as needed. It also means that if someone wants to give you something useful but only has $20 to spend, you can provide them with a practical option that fits their budget. I put Amazon cards ranging from $10-$100 on my registry.
  • A vibrating chair or a swing is always nice to have, somewhere to set baby down while your running to the bathroom or to have a shower
