Anyone give birth in a military hospital?

FTM, and I am reading about all this "swag" that all these moms got in civilian hospitals, and I was just wondering what exactly does a military hospital supply? The females in my squadron can't seem to remember our hospital (NAS Jacksonville) supplying them anything besides some pads and a peri bottle for them, and diapers for the baby while they're in the hospital. My bags are packed already, including a diaper bag just in case... but I was still curious as to what Tricare has to offer us.

  • You get the standard peri bottle pads and everything needed to care for yourself and the baby while in the hospital. There are breast pumps and nipple shields you just need to ask for them. They just don't send you home with all of the formula, extra diapers, and other free samples a lot of civilians hospitals offer.

  • Thank you! That's what I figured. We have our own supply but I was just curious!

  • I just have both in a civ hospital, but delivered at a military hospital worth my first. I sissy got more goodies at the military hospital. Just depends on whats donated.
  • I don't have the option to give birth in a civilian hospital since I'm the active duty member. They said if my water breaks, I can go to a closer hospital than base but right after I deliver they will transport me to base in an ambulance with my son. So might as well go straight there... I was just curious as to what is supplied, even though we have everything we will need.
  • Which hospital, just curious.
  • My friend who is active gave birth at a civ hospital, but she had a referral
  • I gave birth the first time in a civilian hospital but this time I'll be on base. I assume that since I have to share a recovery room, I won't be showered with freebies like I was last time. I would gladly give up all the freebies and then some to have a private room!! Keeping my fingers crossed the ward is super busy so I'll be referred off-base.
  • I'm delivering at NAS Jacksonville, and the recovery rooms are all single there. So no sharing for me. Good luck!
  • I'm going to say it's going to vary hospital to hospital just like any civilian hospitals.
    (Though I posted this yesterday)

I'll be at Tripler and it's all single unless they fill up all the rooms.
