Third Pregnancy Tougher?

Good morning ladies!
Is it just me, or is the third pregnancy tougher?  I know that, in the 2 years since my last pregnancy, a lot has changed with my body, but man oh man do the symptoms seem stronger and sooner than either of my first.  With my first 2, I was one of the lucky ones without any MS.  My strongest symptom was fatigue.  With this LO, I'm only 4 weeks along, and for the last 2 weeks already, I've had extreme exhaustion, nausea on and off all day, terrible backache and headaches, and my boobs feel so heavy and sensitive.  I know that every pregnancy is different, but I feel like, with symptoms like this so strong early on, its going to be a tougher pregnancy.

Thanks for listening!

Re: Third Pregnancy Tougher?

  • The nausea definitely hit me sooner - this go around it hit right at 4 weeks.  Last time at 5, first one at 6.  And I'm kind of nervous because last time my nausea lasted well into week 22 (only puked once though).

  • Omg yes. Just like you I was one of the lucky ones with no ms. This time around I can feel it, not terrible but it's coming! And I'm so bloated!! And I'm normally a very small petite girl. So people are raising eyebrows.
  • Yes!!!  This pregnancy the morning sickness/migraines/tired started right around 4 1/2 weeks!  So crazy! And I think we are probably a lot more tired because of the other 2 little ones!

Makes you wonder how many pounds will actually pack on this time around due to the two little ones.

With my two boys I defiantly noticed the difference in the pregnancies because I was craving different things and had ms more so with the second... But this one I feel super out of it! I'm only 6 weeks but every day around noon I feel like I'm hungover! I'm super lightheaded and food disgusts me... I usually feel better around 3-4 in the afternoon, but I hate feeling so out of it and tired, not to mention moody!!! I hope this doesn't last too long, because I'm having a hard time keeping up with my 2 & 4 yr old!
  • This is my second and HOLY cow, it's way worse than the first!!! How far are your kids apart? My son is 21 months and I'm 6 weeks 1 day. I didn't have ms before and now I have to constantly nibble on something to keep it at bay. I also never had cramps with my son, which scare me this week!

Second time around the cramping was insane about through week 10...enough to where I was constantly checking my underwear for blood.

It's age too. This isn't as easy at 38 as my first pregnancy at 29. Plus it's the fifth time I've done it, my body is over it!

  • That's hilarious! She probably is an expert!!!
  • I feel the exact same way, the first two, a little nausea here and there, but this is the worse I've felt!  I've been eating really clean the past 6 months or so and all I want is like pizza or other not great carbs or nothing at all :-(.  I've been napping when my 2 yo naps!  You're not alone!

This is my third pregnancy. My kids are 6 and 4. I am only 7 weeks and already bloated, struggling to do up my pants already!! I think my exhaustion comes from running around after the kids and school and sports etc. By the time I sit down at night I'm out like a light. So far sickness hadn't been too bad. I just have to make sure I have food on hand when it comes on otherwise it's terrible. Otherwise so far so good.

Hungover...yes!! I ate poorly on Thursday night (huge dinner and dessert), and I was up all night with heartburn, and I've felt 1) full and 2) hungover for the past 2 days straight. Awful!!
  • I was lurking but I'm glad I did, you guys made me feel better. I'm on 3rd baby, 2nd pregnancy and holy hell. The sharp cramps (which I swear feels like RLP), nausea and heartburn already started. Wtf. I feel like a mess and only have one baby cookin' this time!

  • My third pregnancy was way tougher than the first two! I'm sure partly bc I was a little older and I was chasing after two little toddlers. Makes me nervous for this go-round.

  • This is also my 3rd baby but my first two are 12 and 15! I had virtually no symptoms at 21 with my first, some ms with my son at 24 but mild and short lived. This time around, I'm exhausted, nauseous and very sick on and off through out the day and night, breasts are heavy and sore and I'm quite moody I'm told lol. I'm not sure if it's age or number of pregnancies! Anyone else have older children?
  • You guys are making me feel so much better.  I really thought I was going crazy, since I had symptoms before I was even 4 weeks along, and everyone thought I was symptom spotting.  I knew it was more than PMS, and it just seems to get stronger as the weeks progress.  My tots are 3 and 2 (363 days apart), so exhaustion plays a key part in my days.  Luckily, the MS hasn't been horrible, mostly nausea on and off.

  • I have a boy who turned 3 last month and a boy who turned 1 last week... This one I swear I already have symptoms at 4.5 weeks.. My other 2 I didn't get symptoms till 6 weeks. I think our bodies just kick into high gear cause they know what's up!

I've come to discover a pattern that I hope goes away!!! I'm hungry in the morning and by 12:30 pm I'm nauseous and wishing I didn't eat breakfast! That usually ends around 4 pm when I feel famished and scarf down mainly anything with a carb because the thought of salad or veggies disgust me... Then I immediately feel tired and gross ALL over again! Sometimes I eat dinner and tend to feel sick again if I stay up past 10pm. Ugh, I just dislike feeling so tired and sick. I normally am very active, and I hate that I haven't felt up to working out or even going on a walk :(
  • I felt pregnant much sooner with this one I knew something was up and I got a test and it was positive with my boys it took my period not coming for me to realize something was up. Also I had MS with my boys and haven't had any with this one although it could be my prenatal vitamins has ginger and digestive aides with it. I'm more tired with this one although that could be cause I'm 35 and as my doctor put it in now considered advanced maternal age ;)

What brand of prenatals?? I'd love to have one that helps with digestion

365 vegetarian brand from Whole Foods they have been a life saver since I haven't had constipation with this pregnancy like my previous ones and I think it has to be the prenatal.

  • Love reading everyone's comments! This is my third DD will be 18 this year! DS will be 8.... My body at 36 certainly isn't what it used to be at 28!  I too had been eating well (Paleo) and now I just want carbs!  I'm not sure if this bloating is coming from the pregnancy, the carbs or both.  I will say my boobs hurt like heck.  Luckily MS has just been queasiness here and there.  But just 5 weeks today.

    Good luck all :)

So I'm going to be the crazy 3rd timer and say that today at 6w6d, I felt baby twice.  I know I'm going to catch a lot of eye rolling but I felt my second at 9 w on the dot.  No, it's not gas.  Yes, it was the same place I always feel babies early on.  Anyone else feel that "bump" or flutter yet?  :)  Oh and yeah, I'm seriously sucking at hiding my blump right now.  It's like overly obvious.

Ditto! My second is whooping my ass earlier and harder than the first. My daughter will be 2 next week

That's amazing, and I'm jealous! I never felt any of my three until 19wks, even later with the last bc I had an anterior placenta.

I have had anterior placenta 3 times now (with #2 I didn't feel anything until almost 26w!) and I'm hoping not this time again (#4).
I haven't felt baby-movement yet, but I have definitely felt my uterus kind of (idk what to call it) shifting around and bubbling about? Like stretching/relaxing etc. Idk. I know it's not the baby yet, but there is definitely something in my body besides gas that I can feel, kwim?

  • This is my 3rd baby, but my older two children are 12 (almost) and 5.
So even tho this should be cake for me, I feel like this is my first time being preggo because I forgot so many things and I'm still as nervous as I was with my first.

I'm 5 weeks and my symptoms started at 4 weeks. Nauseous, moody, tired and sore boobs. No real cravings but I'm hungry ALL THE TIME.

My DS will be 11 when this one is born. This is my third pregnancy but it ended in a MC. I feel as if I will be raising two only children due to the huge age gap.
