Double strollers

Do any of you have experience and recommendations for double strollers? My DD will be 26 months when LO is born. We currently have the Britax B-Agile (single), and I plan  on still using that for DD and then baby wearing for the infant, but I also love leaving infants in their car seat and just clicking them into the stroller because it's so easy and convenient. I've tried a few different styles/brands at the store, and I don't even know if I want to go for a tandem or side-by-side. The tandems seem kind of difficult to maneuver - like a bus. Is that just the few that I've pushed around? I tried the Britax side by side and I liked that, but I worry those won't fit through doors well. The single is sometimes hard enough to push in "aisles" in the stores at the mall.

Also, we tried the attachment for our current stroller that would allow DD to stand (the glider that goes with it). She hated it. She'd stand on it for a few minutes then freak out and jump off to go look at something. I need her to be strapped in and sitting. Also, I mostly like to use the stroller for walks/zoos/shopping. I occasionally jog with it, but not on any rough terrain so I don't need some crazy off-roading double stroller.

Help! I'm overwhelmed. Thanks!

Re: Double strollers

  • We are getting the joovy caboose too ultralight. We need something smaller to fit in our tiny car and I love how it comes with a second seat for my 19 month old. I didn't like how big most double strollers are so we tried this one out and loved the sturdiness and lightness of it

  • The Phil and teds navigator is awesome! Not too big and fits through doors! It is tandem, but doesn't feel any bigger then a regular jogging stroller.
  • Following this. I'm in the same exact predicament!! DS will be 25 months or so when LO is born.

@apaiget - I looked at that online. I'm sure I could figure it out, but do you know if it's easy to attach an infant seat? And do you have to buy the second seat and install separately? Just wondering how easy it can be taken off and on.

@Steph3987 - I really like the Phil and Ted's, but I don't think my DD would sit "under" the infant seat. Can the child on the bottom see out very well?

Ya it comes with a universal car seat attachment that works for pretty much any car seat. We tried it out in the store and it seemed a pretty safe and sturdy fit. The Too Ultralight comes with the seat in the back. It just snaps on very easily. It's also nice cuz the other ones like graco and baby trend, the back seats are flimsy and the fabric was already tearing in the store. The joovy is actually backed with something so it's really strong and has pretty strong snaps. If you don't want the second seat on, there is still a small strap for the child sitting on the bench in the back.
  • If you have a Buy Buy Baby I would suggest going in the store and trying out the joovy and other kinds to see what you like best. It's also nice to try out the car seat attachments so you know how they work and how safe they are in the stroller
  • I'm having such a hard time with picking a stroller! I have a little girl who will be three before the babies born but she likes to sit in the stroller on occasion especially when she gets tired so sit and stand is out. I really need something with badass wheels because we live on a gravel road where I plan to take them for walks so that rules out a bunch of strollers. I'm so stumped. I haven't found one that I really love!
  • I have a double Baby Jogger City Mini that I love. I used it from the time DS was about 4 months and DD was 3 years.  DD will be 5, so she doesn't need a stroller, but DS will be 2.5 when this one comes and he is a wild man. I need him buckled in at all times.

I didn't have the infant seat attachment previously, but I plan on getting it this time. The attachment for the car seat I was planning on getting is $100. Ugh. Oh well, at least I don't need to buy much else this time around.
  • CitySelect! That's the one that I want to get. I just have to wait for it to go on sale again.
