Hi im a ftm had my baby boy saturday via vaginal birth. Heard you had to wait 40 days to go outside but this being home is driving me nuts! Anyone else went out before the 40 days or how did you handle the situation?
Go out whenever you want. I mean really you go outside to come home, on the way to doing that you probably are taken down hallways that have sick people in the them. If I went 40 days my two older children would have to miss about a month of school. Certainly not realistic.

40 days sounds a little crazy...I would avoid big enclosed spaces for a couple weeks (malls, stores, etc.) but you had to have brought the baby to the doctor already right? And there are plenty of germs there. My LO is 2 weeks old tomorrow and we've been to the doctor, dad's office, on car rides, walks, and visited a daycare center today. I would use your judgement and do what you feel comfortable with, but you're going to go crazy if you don't go anywhere for that long.
My LO will be born on Saturday and next week will be bringing her to a wedding. It is your baby, do as you feel fit. DR's suggest that you don't take them to places with lots of germs but it is a suggestion. If you don't feel comfortable going somewhere at least go outside on nice days for walks to keep yourself sane!
i kind of agree with the idea of not taking the baby to crowded places before she has at least some vaccines! At least in Mexico they get 1 when they're born and the second and third one when they're 30 days old so that's when I'll take her out to friend's houses and stuff, and after the third month, when they get a vaccine with I think 6 different virus, that's when I'll take her to crowded places. But that's just because I'm a bit of a germ nuts.
