Baby's weight @29 weeks

I was just wondering what everyone's baby was weighing around 29 weeks. I was told today that my little girl is about 3.5lbs....she is gunna be a pudgy one if she keeps growing at this rate.

Re: Baby's weight @29 weeks

  • I was told today that LO is at 5 pounds exactly and I'm 31 weeks. It makes me worried but they say that he is perfect. I don't have gestational diabetes and nothing seems to be wrong but that's a pretty huge baby for 31 weeks!

  • How are they determining weight? Out of curiosity
  • I'm 29 weeks and they said she was 4 pounds 1 oz. They measured her weight by the amount of amniotic fluid.
  • At 28 weeks mine was 2.6 and I get another ultrasound on Monday when I'm 31+4 looking forward to see how much she weighs lol x
  • I was in between 29 and 30 weeks and my little girl was 2 pounds 14 oz

Almost 30 weeks my girl measured 3lb 4ozs. They say between 7 and 8lb at birth.
  • At 28 weeks my girl measured 3 lbs

    At 29+2 they said 3lb4oz.
  • 3lb 14 oz at 29+2
  • When they do the ultrasound it's just an estimate.  With my last child and at my very last ultrasound they told me she would be around 8 or 9 pounds.  That was when I was 38 weeks and I was induced at 39 because of GD.  Turns out my daughter was only 6 lbs 9ozs.  They thought she would be big because I had GD but she wasn't.
  • Thanks for all the info ladies! It makes me feel better knowing that my baby isn't crazy huge for how far along I am. My husband and I were both chunky babies so I am expecting a chunky wee one.
  • 3 lbs 2 oz at around 29 weeks
  • I'm 30 weeks and 5 days and they estimate my baby is right at 3 lbs.
  • I haven't had an ultrasound since 22 weeks. Baby was weighing almost a lb
  • I actually had a sonogram right at 29 weeks and baby boy was estimated to be 3.2lbs.

  • I had mine at 28 weeks and he was measuring 3 lb 12 oz... none of my siblings nor I were small and neither was my hubby and his brother, so we'll see! :)
  • My precious boy was 3 lbs 1 oz and I was 29 w and 4 days!!
  • My girl was 2.5lbs at 26 weeks. I have another u/s at 33 weeks so I'm excited to see how big she'll be then!
  • 36 weeks and she's 6 pounds lol x
  • My doctor doesn't tell me this kind of stuff.
I asked him how big she was and he pressed on my stomach some, and he was like "oh she should be between 4-5lbs, everything seems to be fine"

    So I have no clue!
  • At 32 weeks my little man was 4 lbs 8 oz already. I won't be getting another measurement until he's here so I'm thinking he'll be a chunker
  • Why do people keep resurrecting month old zombie threads?

Probably because they don't want to start a new one, so searched for the topic first, this is the first that I have seen this topic. I am 37 weeks and the doctor said baby is at 6lbs now, and estimates 7.5lbs at birth.
My DS was 7.9 at his birth. Pretty interesting to see if it's an accurate estimate from the doctor. I never was told with my DS on an estimated birth weight.

You get people that moan when old threads come up and you get people that moan when threads get repeated! I don't see what the problem is?!
  • If it means anything my doctor believes that measuring the baby's weight is not accurate enough to be worthwhile. I have not had this done and don't think I will during this pregnancy unless there are concerns. I say this only to mean possibly take this information in stride because it has not been shown to be super accurate. My girlfriend was told her baby was 8 pounds a week before delivery and when it came time to delivery he was actually over 10 pounds and too big to fit! That being said your baby could actually be smaller or bigger than they are estimating :)
