I like Ella the best. Austen to me sounds just like Austin which makes me think boy right away.

  • I'm naming my daughter if it's a girl Avery Rayne

I really like Ella. I have a name that is used boy/girl and hated it growing up. One year at camp they had me grouped with the boys. So I vote no to Austen.
  • I vote Ella!

  • My last name is Austin but everyone calls me that instead of my first name, and i don't have any issues with it. I probably answer to Austin a lot faster than Susan
  • I'm actually naming my baby girl Ella Kathryn. I love the name. My mom's middle name is Ellen and grandmother was Kathryn. :)
  • Ella Kate was my name for a girl! But we're having a boy:)
  • I voted Austen. Different, but definitely an actual name. I feel like Ella is overdone. It's up there with Madeline and Addison. Raine is just NMS.
  • I voted Austen. I like boys names/gender neutral names for girls. Ella is WAY too common/trendy for my taste. Raine is too hippie/granola for my taste.
Just my opinion, but it's your baby so name her what feels right to you!
  • Thanks very much everyone for the suggestions and votes! I appreciate it. Xo

My daughters name is Ella Catherine. We love it! We call her Ella Cate!

We are thinking about something a bit more unique for our second, I actually love the name Raine - but also obviously love the name Ella! We find out tomorrow if baby #2 is a girl or boy so I suppose that will help with the decision process! Good luck!

As far as Ella being too popular we haven't run into that yet and I'm part of a big moms group and church group where we usually see lots of repeat names.
  • I've seen Austyn for a girl but Austen doesn't quite look right...I guess it looks funny with the "y" too. I love Ella. I'm a teacher and I've only met one Ella, my niece!
  • Ya your right is like the way Austyn with a y looks better :)
  • I like Austen but don't like it spelt Austyn. I'm just not a fan of the "y" trend.
  • Ella is sweet, but common now, or becoming common. I like all three, but with the first two she may get to be the only child in her class that raises her hand at the sound of her name.

Yeah, and at least Austen would be like Jane Austen.

  • Austin is a boy's name, and the Austen spelling just seems like you are severely uneducated or you never got out of your Jane Austen phase. Raine is a stripper name. Ella is NMS but at least it is legit and appropriate to the sex of your child.

I love the name Austyn for a girl!! I met a girl named austyn and shes the nicest little girl iv ever met! Don't listen to all the haters ;) Austyn is a beautiful name for a girl! I'm naming my baby girl Paesli and all people have done on here is criticize how I spell her name saying it should be spelled the "traditional" way. There really is no "traditional" way to spell anything anymore! So who cares! I think it's a great name and nobody asked for their opinion on the spelling anyway!
I think you should go with Austyn :)

  • I only know 2 people named Ella and they're not kids
  • My 3 yr.old is named Ella Nicole. I think it's such a sweet name. We have a million nicknames for her. I've never regretted naming her Ella. Good luck!
  • I love the name Ella!
  • Ella... by a gazillion miles.

  • I like Raine!
I only know it as a French name, you would spell it Reine and pronounce it a bit different, and then it means Queen.

Ella is also a lovely name, but a bit more popular lately in my circle, don't know how that is where you live.

Good luck! It is so difficult isn't it!

How about Austyn Raine Or Austyn Ella? I love the untraditional spelling its may just fit babies creative and outgoing personality when she gets older! Best of luck names can be tough!
  • I like Raine but also like Raine if the ending is pronounced "Rain-ah". My baby girl is Skylar Noel. Wanted something not so common. All of your names are beautiful though.
  • Ella was number 17 on the Social Security list for 2014 and from places that like to predict what will be top 10 Ella is definitely expected to climb in 2015. I do like Ella the best out of the three.
  • What's NMS?

    Not my style
