My pediatrician said yes it is ok, but less often then the package suggests. Obviously each doctor may something different, but ours said 4x per day with bottles / feedings! Good luck, it is so hard seeing them in pain
Simethicone (gas drops) actually caused our 10 day old newborn to stop breathing two years ago, it was the scariest thing I have ever experienced in my life. They are supposed to be all natural, but we were told that this does happen (although rare) so just be very careful when using them. ** side note: he's a perfectly healthy (almost) two year old now!
We used gas drops with our first son when he was a newborn because he had painful gas, and he did not have any complications from it. We also used gripe water. Not entirely sure how effective those things were though. The most helpful thing was doing infant massage and rotating his legs until we could release gas. It was hilarious, if we moved his legs in a certain way he'd let out big man farts.
I got the little remedies brand. It seems to be working but after some trial and error I think it is my breast milk that is making him so gassy. I'm so devasted. I just want to breastfeed so bad and finding out that it is me that is causing my baby pain is heartbreaking. I just feel so defeated. I am still pumping hoping that we can try breast milk later when his little stomach may have changed. I don't know maybe just wishful thinking. Thank you ladies for you help.
We used gas drops with DS and will again this time if we need them. Try also bicycling his legs to get things moving in there for him and then try taking his legs and pushing his knees up to his chest, this helps some of the trapped air come out - worked wonders for DS.
@lovermyboys if you think it might be your milk, start eliminating things from your diet & see if that helps. Dairy is always a good place to start! Good luck! Hope you get it figured out asap!! It's so hard to see our little ones uncomfortable like that
