passing the time?

Just wondering how other people are passing the time waiting for labour to begin? I cant decide between relaxing in front of the TV or cleaning around the house. If something would bring on contractions I'd do that, as 40w+3, and can't wait for my little one to arrive.

Re: passing the time?

  • I am trying to keep busy in order to stop obsessing about something that absolutely has to happen at some point. I am 39+3 and was really convinced he was coming early. Now, I am just enjoying being pregnant and knowing he will be here sometime. Keeping myself comfortable and happy. And eating enough for 3 men.

  • I'm cleaning the bathroom now! Due today and keeping busy has been helping me, still working full time and trying to do chores, go for walks, or take extra naps to pass the time. Good luck and I hope your little one arrives soon!

I just take it day by day...one day out & about shopping, maybe have breakfast or lunch with family or friend...the next just lounge alone, take it easy at home, watch movies, some days house chores, one day walk 3-4 miles, the next sleep til 10:30, shower & put pajamas back on... Just whatever feels right for that day, my energy level, body, & mental state. I am FTM & a teacher & havent worked since May 29th, so I can do what I want when I want & feel very fortunate! It has been a very stress & demand free last 2 months
  • I work in the schools as well and love the summers and the stress free environment :) it's just different with your second and third kids. There's still a toddler running around aty house so I don't have as much freedom. But I try to keep up with a to do list so I don't get too bored :). There are only so many tinker bell movies a resin can take!!
  • I'm only 38w2d, so I am still working 5 days a week. After work yesterday, I took my dog to have her nails clipped, washed my car, and did 4 loads of laundry. Then I crawled into bed and watched the OC until I fell asleep. I am one of those people who can't just sit around all the time. I have to keep busy or I'll go completely insane!
  • I spent an entire day looking up new music on Spotify.  That was fun!  I danced around a lot.
Do you like to bake?  Begin something involved, like cupcakes or pie.
Write a letter to your LO.  I've been journaling on and off these last 9 months, trying to document the pregnancy for her.
Reorganize files on your computer.  (I haven't done this but DH keeps begging me to.)
Start a craft project!  Sewing, knitting, painting.
I find books more captivating than television, once I am engaged.  Plus, a book lasts longer than a 2-hour movie.
I second PP's suggestion of coloring books.  So calming!  I have one in my hospital bag.

Keep the suggestions coming!  I am also running out of things to do.
  • I'm 39+3 today. Woke up to losing what's probably the rest of my mp as well as some contractions. I thought about staying home from work today but then I figured I'd just sit around waiting so went into work instead.

Trying to get homework done for my teaching certificate but it's hard to focus! Especially today since I lost my plug and am really uncomfortable, I can't sit still!!
  • I'm still working, but even here I get restless! I am going to the movies tonight with my aunt while my husband goes to work. Anything to keep my mind from going crazy! Yesterday my doctor said she thinks baby boy will be here before the weekend, and that just made me more anxious if anything. I wish she wouldn't of said anything!

My doctors are being very careful to say anything… Baby will come when baby is ready
  • Stocked up on groceries and went to pur grocery stores today because no place had everything I needed. So after Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, the co-op and Publix, all stocked up and all I need is a nap. I try to swim in a spring most days, but today it was rainy and awful. I need the cold water. It makes my swelling go away. I have flip flop indentions in my feet today two hours after taking them off.
