Epidural side effects?

I had my sweet little
Boy on Sunday and I did have the epidural given to me. Although it was a relief to get they had to redo it a second time becuz the first time didn't take. The guy would did the epidural warned me that I may get a spinal headache days later. Well he was right. Tuesday the headache/neck ache came. Today (Thursday) I still have the spinal headache. Standing and sitting up
Make it a thousand times worse. So I've been bed ridden and laying down a lot to help with the pain. I'm
Starting to Get worried so I called my doc this morning and
Left a message. I'm sure I'll get a call soon this morning. My question is has anyone dealt with the same
Side effects and has it gone away on its own? Being a new mom is hardly hard so adding a headaches and neck pain makes it some much more worse.

I ended up with a spinal headache after my back surgery in 2009.  Now I'm not a doctor, but from what I was told. . . . hydration and caffeine can help.  I actually ended up in the ER because I was so sick everytime I sat up for days that I got dehydrated, etc.  Essentially a spinal headache, again from what I am told, is because there is a hole in your spinal column and spinal fluid is leaking out so there is not enough to keep your brain buoyant when you stand, thus causing all the pain.  To fix it for me they did something called a blood patch.  Basically they took a vial of blood from my arm and injected it right into my spine to cause a scab on the inside of the spinal column to block the hole.  Within 12 hours of laying around after that, I was good to go.

    Feel better!

Well, it was after back surgery. . . so after leaving the ER I went back to the back surgeon who did the initial procedure.
  • I had a mild one and was able to get rid of it with caffeine, but it wasn't too severe
  • I've had two friends who had the blood patch done, and they said within a day, they felt completely back to normal.
  • Update.! I got the blood patch done. Couldn't deal with the pain anymore and I'm Feeling much better! I can actually get up and be mobile around the house. Definitely hope the headaches done come back!
