How's everyone feeling today?

I'm 13 weeks today and super excited for my first ever ultrasound! But sleep is starting to become more difficult. I'm just uncomfortable, my brain doesn't stop and I wake up so many times in the night.

After I eat my stomach feels super weird. Not even sure how to describe it except that it feels very unsettled, like everything is just roiling around, even though I'm careful to eat small meals.

Also @nickicb7 I think it might be helpful to reduce some of the repeat symptom posts that tend to clutter the board up, if you were to include in the title "symptoms, questions, concerns go here" or something to that effect. Just an idea ;)
Have fun at your ultrasound!! Do you think they're going to try to find the sex today? Even if they don't it'll be great for you to see the little one!

  • Great idea @StephPegasus!

Thanks I'm excited to see baby, I don't think we are going to find out the sex, or at least we haven't decided yet so I don't think we will ask this time around!

  • 13 wks is a bit early, although they can be wrong at later dates too. First AS my sister had they told her girl, then a couple months later at another found out "she" was actually a he.
  • @StephPegasus so that's a good reason not to ask... Lol. That must have been a shock for her! Yikes!

They had a name picked out and everything, but she didn't seem too disappointed or upset. I don't know that she had a preference either way but to be certain of the sex.

That's why a lot of doctors won't tell you what it is... Get your hopes up for no reason

  • 13 w 1 day. A little tired, food aversions getting better. I'm with you @StephPegasus, my stomach just feels unsettled, not sure how to explain it. I'll take it over nausea but it's still uncomfortable
  • @ccoleeman does it go away after a little while for you? Or does it take longer?
  • Ugh, I go in cycles of good days and bad. I woke up and instantly threw up today. I'm just crabby and nauseous and absolutely HAVE to do housework and take my kids outside at some point. On the plus, my Sonoline is supposed to be here today.

13w 5d here. Nothing new since yesterday. Have my CVS today which I am dreading. Usually, I am fine w/procedures. All my emotions are adding to it.

    @nickicb7 - 1st ultrasounds are so exciting!

@StephPegasus and @ccoleeman - had this w/DS and now too. I found it varied in intensity/duration. Papaya tablets did help settle things down. I found it most helpful to take 1, 15-20 minutes prior to eating. If really bad, I'd take a tablet after eating too. You can get the tablets at health food stores/WF.
  • @skfg thanks for the tip, I'm going to try to find those. It just bugs me because its every time after I eat :(
I hope the CVS goes well, keep us posted!

I feel this way too! My stomach just feels off all day and everything just sits in there and I feel gross :(
Drinking peppermint tea has seemed to help a little and small meals too.
I just have to eat a million small meals because I'm always starving lol
  • I'm so tired. My daughter thinks she doesn't need naps anymore and I'm still feeling nauseated all day. I'm only 12 weeks and change so hoping I'm on the upswing.

Random: can I change my avatar from my phone or do I need to get on a computer?

I was feeling really good up until 11 weeks (12w6d today) but for the past few days I just feel like blah. Since my last pregnancy was all done with ms by 11 weeks I just assumed I was in the clear. No food sounds good and when I eat something that does, I instantly feel gross.

  • 15w here and hunger, hunger, hunger. All. Day. Long.
I hope you girls get better from the stomach soon!
  • 11w6d I had THE WORST gas last night, I kept painfully burping and just felt like my stomach was going to explode, which made it impossible to fall asleep. Finally, around 3:30am, I passed out from sheer exhaustion, woke up feeling pretty okay.

I know it's different for everybody, but ladies who are further along or STMs, when did your food aversions stop? I've been lucky to mostly avoid ms (just some queasiness, no vomiting), but I would REALLY like to be able to eat veggies and meat again and start getting some nutrition to this baby in food form instead of just my prenatal vitamin, but right now salads make me gag!

  • Thanks @sfkg! Yeah @StephPegasus it happens right before and after eating. It eventually fades but it's the worst when I'm hungry or for the hour after eating
  • Question ladies! How much back pain is normal? I wake up in such pain from my tailbone all the way to the top of my neck. I try to sleep with pillows between my legs and under my back and nothing. It hurts to bed down and get back up. It's 24/7 this last week and I'm only almost 16 weeks. How much worse does it get when I have a big ol belly?? I'm worried. I have an OB appt on Tuesday so I'll ask him too

With my first the food aversions did not go away until after I delivered and even lasted a little after that. Everyone is different though. Yours might go away or they might not
  • @babybluu, I had upper back pain from about week 5-7. My doctor said that things are just moving around, and so you may experience pain all through your back, but it is usually localized to your lower back. But your whole spinal system is just that...a system. Things are connected, and pain can travel. Have you thought about going to the chiropractor?? Chiro's have pre-natal treatments that can be VERY helpful. Don't think of the chiro as just a "back cracker." They can adjust you without ever cracking anything. I'm a huge proponent of chiropractic care during pregnancy. It's not for everyone, but it's just a thought!!

I think it depends on the person. I had terrible back pain with DD in the 2nd tri and I could only ever get temporary relief from it.
Walking regularly helped, but if I sat or stood for too long it hurt. Sitting on a big exercise ball helped too. The worst of it I could only get rid of with a hot bath followed by cold compresses.
  • New symptom for me today: Pressure and general weird feeling right where baby is! Doesn't hurt but I don't like it. Beach bound and on my cell... It's been 2 hours and I don't have to pee yet! Yaaaaaasssss
  • Nauseated all day. But also sooo hungry all the time! Seriously, nothing fills the void and everything leaves me feeling icky. But I still want to eat more. Not cool pregnancy, not cool at all.
  • Ok... New TMI symptom: After sex, I can feel (what I assume is) my uterus tightening and shifting upwards in my abdomen. It turns into a very hard ball that I can feel on the inside and the outside. It stays there for a while too, like 30 min after sex, but then relaxes and goes back to normal. It's not painful or anything and I'm actually not even concerned health wise, but it is very very strange. My hubs was joking that he was packing my organs in... Or that it's baby trying to run away. Yuck! Anyone know what is actually going on in there??

I just bought a snoogle today and I think I am in love. I am cradled in it right now. I've been having back pain and I hope this helps!

I have been having tons of headaches and I am taking propranolol for prophylaxis but it doesn't seem to be working and since it is a class c medication I don't think the benefits are outweighing the risks. So I am going to talk to my OB next week about stopping it. Is anyone taking any other kind of prophylaxis for headaches?
  • Been feeling pretty good. Other than the 3am wake up to pee regardless of when I stop drinking the night before.

Sounds like could be a Braxton-Hicks contraction. Early for you to be noticing them but not unreasonable.
  • @StephPegasus Interesting, I didn't think of that. Maybe I'll have to read more about them and ask the doc. I figure as long as they're not associated with cramping I shouldn't concern myself too much, no use panicking over something so small!
  • I had them all the time with DD and it was exactly as you described. Basically just the uterus practicing for labor.
I think of pregnancy as really just your whole body practicing and preparing to have the baby so I guess that's why things happen the entire time, like the milk leaking and the contractions.
  • Headaches!! I am 15 weeks today and the last two weeks have been filled with headaches. I'm trying to drink as much water as but I've given in and taken a regular Tylenol a few times, never more than 1 a day. I got a pretty judge-y reaction from a friend who thought that wasn't a good idea, but I did some reading and it said it was okay...

Reassurance please! Is regular Tylenol okay to take??
  • N1col3N1col3 member
Tylenol is completely fine. I take it like every day with my headaches. And every other pregnant person I've ever been around has taken it too

My only issue is that I'm a server and walk constantly 3-9 hours during my shifts :/ that's what hurts. And moving around while I sleep can be excruciating. Unfortunately.

  • @babybluu I can't help you with during the day, but I've found the best part of my snoogle is that it really locks you into place...whenever I use it I wake up in almost the exact same position I fell asleep in, something that never happens normally. I think for that alone it's worth the investment over just using a normal body pillow or pillows between your legs, etc.

i will have to get one. I've been putting it off because of the price lol

  • Glad you said this! I've been feeling pressure too, and I was wondering if anyone else did.
  • @curly818 Tylenol is totally fine as long as you stick to the recommended dosage and use sparingly.
