Headaches

Hey everyone!!! I looked around all the threads for the bit and even searched but couldn't find anything so I apologize if this is a repeat question! What can I take for my daily headaches? Does anyone have any holistic/natural ways to help headaches? It constantly feels like I'm dehydrated but I drink so much water so that can't be the case. Thanks for any feedback!

Re: Headaches

  • I don't have any natural suggestions. I've been getting head aches tho and take 1 tylenol to try to ease it up. Tends to help. Hope you feel better.

  • Cool compress and according to my doc a Tylenol. if a migraine to have some caffeine with it. (B-12 tends to help me with my headaches, so you may want to ask your doc if that's ok to take extra, it's for energy normally, but helps for me along with tons of water) good luck!

@aks2013 I usually do tylenol, and these cool patches. I suffer from migraines, and lately it has been no walk in the park! Also I wet washclothes and keep them in the fridge or freezer. Stays cooler on your head longer. I hate constantly wetting them! If your home, put a fan on you, dark cold room, and just nap. It's really the only thing that helps. Oh and peppermint oil on the temples! Lots of water!!! Best of luck!!!

  • It might help to drink something with electrolytes in it

Drink half your body weight in ounces of water. If you weigh 150, you should be drinking 75+ oz of water a day.
I know you said you drink a lot, but everyone's definition of a lot is different. Good luck!
  • I find sleeping is the best way to shift a headache at the moment, plenty of water and I've also found I get headachy if I'm hungry, make sure you try to eat well even if the headache is putting you off. I'm trying to go drug free and finding water food and sleep is all I need so far!
  • I'm not prone to headaches and I've noticed I have been getting more. Try some Acetaminophen my doctor said to avoid asprin or ibuprofen. Hope this helps!
  • Gatorade! It has lots of electrolytes that might help!
  • I suffer from migraines and I agree with others to put some ice on it. I usually have an ice pack on my neck and a heating pad on my forehead. Also for natural remedies I have had some success with peppermint essential oils on your temples and/or neck. Finally my obgyn just recommended taking magnesium, up to 400mg a day, to help. I haven't tried it yet only because I haven't been to the store
  • Mine are now terrible too. I try low light, quiet rest. Lots of water. Sleeeeeeeep.
  • I have been having really bad migraines and acupuncture has been AMAZING! I highly recommend it. I felt instant relief and has been the only thing that has made a difference
  • Since I can't take my migraine meds I've resorted to peppermint oil to temples (also a drop on the tummy does wonders for the nausea), cool, dark, quiet room combined with Gatorade (or @ least water), and I have daily supplements to my vitamins by increasing the magnesium and iron (I suffer from anemia-hence sometimes the headache is from low iron). All have worked great depending on the root cause at the time.
  • I haven't tried it yet, but one of my girlfriends just mentioned this to me yesterday.... lemon juice, water and pink himalayan sea salt...  https://q985online.com/salt-and-lemon-juice-for-migraines/

    hope you find some relief!

  • I've been using peppermint oil on my temples/pressure points and it seemed to help before going to bed. Good luck! Mine were bad last week at 9 weeks and a little this week at 10 weeks.
  • Thanks, ladies! All your advice is so helpful!
  • I also suggest the peppermint essential oil. I put it on the back of my neck or temples.

I wish I could sleep off my headaches, but I have a 2 yr old to keep up with!  I agree with the hungry thing tho!  If I wait too long to eat, I start getting a slight headache. And with it being the middle of summer, I also get bad headaches if I'm out in the heat too long without drinking a ton of water.

As for holistic remedies, peppermint essential oil rubbed on the temples helps.  You can also suck on peppermint candies to ease it.  The candy never fully rids mine, but it will ease them a great deal.

  • Girl I am in the same boat... I have a lingering headache pretty much all day everyday. Eating helps if I'm nauseated and 2 tylenols do the trick for me until it wears off in a few hours
