Had baby on Friday via c section getting released saturday afternoon.

I had the baby via c section on Friday at 4:45 am the doctor came by to check on me later and said that I was being released the next day in the afternoon I'm really lost with my first it was vaginal had him on Thursday afternoon and I was released saturday afternoon, my comprehension was that if it was c section it would 3 to 4 days even. Anybody else gone through this????

  • I was in with a csection from Sunday to Wednesday

  • Maybe you should ask, that sounds fast.
  • I was in from Saturday (had him c-section at 3:29) to Monday (10am). I could have left Sunday but was having bad migraines so I stayed. If you talk to your doctor and let him know you're uncomfortable leaving so quickly I'm sure he'll have you stay.

I'm thinking that's too quick too. With mine, I had baby at 7:51pm Friday and was released after noon on Monday.

  • Hm...never heard of that before. I went in Wednesday night, delivered Thursday and left Monday night.
  • I would definitely inquire. I just had a c section this past Wednesday and I'm just getting released today.

Are you able to walk? Are you still numb? I was still needing assistance especially the next day.
  • They should keep you to make sure there is no complications! I would definitely speak to the staff and doctor!!!

That does not seem right. My c/s will be on a Thurs and I'll be released on Sunday. They always keep you for 3 nights at our place.

  • C-section early Wednesday morning and left Saturday. My doc even offered to get me approved by insurance to stay till Sunday if I felt like I needed it. Seems really fast to me! I felt the worst the few days post section.
  • Usually 3-4 days after c section. Way too soon! Talk to your doctor!

  • Maybe they misread the charts and think it was vaginal? That is too soon.
  • I had a CS Monday morning and went home Thursday afternoon. And Thursday morning the dr said we could stay one more day if we wanted to. Talk to you dr to see what's best. Also check your insurance and see what they allow as well.
  • Had my baby Friday 3:10pm and had the option of leaving Monday or Tuesday, I ended up leaving Monday around 2pm
  • I had my c/s on the 1st at 8:30am. No complications I was up walking around at 6:30pm on the 1st. Got released on the 2nd at noon. But I was ready to go home. It was also my second c/s.
  • Oh! I would be a wee bit concerned with that! With my first I was told a 4 day stay and was released after 3. And this baby will be via c-section as well and my doctor had told me this hospital (different then first) is a 4-5 day stay. Usually you can be numb for up to 24 hours and then they make sure you are ok will bowel movements ect before releasing you. Maybe just mention your still not feeling up to going home quite yet, although if you can walk and go to the bathroom ok then I guess it's not too concerning to the doctor?

I've never heard of them doing less than 2 nights for a c/s - even then I really had to show them how ready I was to go home because 3 nights is more standard.
  • @shakirahb I was able to stand up the same day was able to walk day after I did voice my opinion and wasn't released till Sunday afternoon
  • Good for you!!!! I just got back from my c-section and I was in from Friday to Tuesday....and I needed it! Once the spinal completely wore off, about 36 hours later, the pain was intense and I went through a lot of Percocet. Definitely made recovery easier and the nurses were there to support me when my husband and MIL were not.
In fact I cried when I had to leave the hospital...lol!
  • I had my cesarean Tuesday night and was released Friday afternoon- and that was with zero complications
  • I had my c-section Saturday night and got released Wednesday, and I had to talk them into letting me go. I have a spinal migraine, but should be gone in a couple days.
  • That does not sound right at all!!! Ask!
I had my c section at 12:34 am on a Saturday and was kept in the hospital until Tuesday.
They need to monitor you to make sure your uterus is healing (when they come in and push in your belly), you are peeing without a catheter, you pass gas and/or have a bowel movement, etc. There is a lot they should be monitoring to make sure things are functioning properly prior to you being released.
    Good luck!
