Help :(

any remedies or things I can do to calm my stomach between the excessive vomiting, no sleep, and constant pains I'm losing it.

Re: Help :(

  • Sorry to hear that. What about sea bands, a black currant candle, a lot of water or ice or ice pops, a comfortable sleep mask and some relaxing music or a tv on with a light show like a sitcom rerun at a soft volume.

Honestly seems like nothing works for me, even after a while eating ice and ice pops I throw it up after a few minutes
  • Sorry to hear that you aren't feeling well! Nothing worked in actually curbing the nausea for me, but a few things took the edge off. Peppermint essential oil (sniff it, put in on neck/chest/little bit on tip of nose), lemon water, drinking water in teeny tiny sips, eating small amounts very slowly. Seabands didn't help me.

    Hope you find some relief!!

Thanks I hope so too, but everything you said hasn't worked in my favor yet. Lemon water used to but not anymore
  • Honestly my doctor prescribed zofran and then deglicis (I probably spelled that wrong). If you're loosing weight and already petite than I would think, research and ask your OB. I've done research and can't link but can tell you from what ive read the lawsuit is crap. in not sure how far along you are but once I hit about 14 weeks it went away almost all together. It was almost over night! Hang in there mama!
  • Ya... I feel ya! I had about a 2-3 week stretch where nothing helped. Keep your head up! (When you're not puking.. Hahah). It won't last forever! I think I'm finally on the tail end and it's made me VERY thankful to be feeling better!
  • I will say- when I got discouraged I started listening to baby's heartbeat that I had recorded from an appointment before or after yacking. Sounds so cheesy but it really helped! Focussing on the amazing thing happening inside of you, even if it does make you few completely terrible lol..
  • Have you talked to your doctor? Mine prescribed Diclegis even though I was afraid to ask for anything since I didn't throw up, just felt queasy, but he basically was handing it out like candy, lol. Since taking it I feel fine 90% of the time, only a little queasy at night. I find when I do still feel queasy, eating carbs really helps, or sucking on lemon candies (preggie pops are great, but if you can't find them near you any sour candy can help), or even honestly trying to poop or burp...a lot of the time the nausea is tied to something else, for me at least.

  • Have you tried Ginger? It is supposed to help with nausea. I often make a tea by just cutting up some fresh ginger and letting it steep in boiling water. You can add lemon to it, and honey as well. Though I've heard as preggos we should avoid unpasteurized honey.

Yes I've been big on the ginger tea n I'm trying not to over do it
  • I seriously had to do the worst thing ever and stop drinking water. Every time I drank water I got super nauseous. I was like that for weeks, but I drank juice and whatnot. Probably killed my kidneys a little, but now I'm able to down water all day long and have my bladder hating me. I know everyone pushes water, but seriously, try it and see if it helps you. I still felt nauseous and would gag throughout the day, but I puked less and that helped a lot!
  • I slept it off. My sisters and mom also vomited 4-7 times a day. At my worst was 7-11 times a day. They told me the only thing that helped was to eat little meals /crackers or something all throughout the day so you don't get nausea from being hungry and nausea from eating too much. They also said the only other thing that helped was to sleep it off. So I did that and it helped. I slept alot! Peaches worked for me and unsalted saltine crackers. Ginger did not. Hope that helps.
  • I would maybe call your OB/midwife if you're not able to told anything down...dehydration is a real thing and is probably what's already adding. They might also prescribe an anti-emetic to help you. My best friend had HG this pregnancy and she ended up in the ER for dehydration and she was put on a Zofran IV drip. I know it sounds a little dramatic, but you just have to weigh out risk vs reward. I hope you feel better asap!!
  • Wow. I thought it was only me, I don't drink soda or juice. Water has always been my thin n at 6 weeks I couldn't stomach it. I'm 15 weeks now n still can barley drink water. But go crazy over soda smh. Ugh.....
  • Vitamin B6. 50 ml in the AM and again in the PM - that's what was recommended to me by my midwife
  • Yep, vitamin B6 first thing in the morning and then again around 3PM really took the edge off for me and made it much more tolerable. And they are super cheap bottles at Whole Foods (like $3).
  • Do you have the pregnancy pillow to help you sleep?? I LOVE mine!! Also, I love essential oils for pregnancy! The peppermint oil really helps!!
  • Target has a roll-on essential oil to help with nausea that I used when traveling. It's a blend of several oils and all organic. It's in the new "mommy" section of the pharmacy area near the prego tests and stuff.

As far as sleep goes I have been doing the yoga pose "legs up the wall" for a few minutes before bedtime and it really has helped me a lot. Hopefully you can find something that works to help you out soon!
  • With my first pregnancy my OB recommended 1/2 of a unisom tablet and it really helped, but If you really are unable to keep anything down, you really should go see your doctor, it's not good for you or the baby to not be able to eat or drink.

  • My OB recommended B6 supplements because I can't take zofran due to work restrictions. It's been helping a little!
  • Sparking water really helps me - the coolness and the fizziness and the not-just-water-ness. Hope you feel better soon!!
