  • I like December 7 :) i was wondering bc it will be crazy to have a c- section right after a holiday weekend. Do yo know what you having?
  • My due date is the 15, csec on the 7 or 8. Havent scheduled it yet, but they told me it would happen at 39 weeks.
  • Mine is the 14th, but we are scheduling at 39 weeks as well.

  • Yeah, I'm due the 18th..doctor is saying the 11th
  • I'm due 12/14, and will have my c-section most likely sometime in week 39. so I'm thinking week if December 7 too.

  • My due date is December 10th.  If my darn placenta would move out of the way, my c-section will happen at 39 weeks, which is December 3rd.

  • My due date is December 11th, week 39 c section for me as well!
  • Just curious, are you ladies having a scheduled c section for medical reasons or just opting for c section over vaginal? I was wondering if it just depends on the doctor? I'm not having a c section (well we will see when my due date rolls around lol)
  • I think I'm going to do a repeat c-section vs VBAC (not 100% decided). My due date is Dec 26 and I'm guessing they'll schedule it sometime in week 39.
  • Im having a csection Nov 28. At 39 weeks @beccabeeee mine is for medical reasons im in the uk and you cannot request a csetion, they are only done if deemed medically essential. Be intresting to know what other countries policys are on them.
  • Very interesting! Seems like the Uk knows what's up!

I'm due Dec 28th but the doctor wants to induce labor or a c section (depending how I'm doing) no later than Dec 14th because I am having twins
  • My first c-section was an emergency.  Labored for 24 hours and baby had heart decels so we opted for the c-section.  I stopped dialating at a 6.  Turns out he had the cord wrapped around his neck 3 times...thankful for c-section deliveries!

My second wasn't an option.  My doctor does not do VBAC deliveries.  I went into labor two days before my scheduled c-section...had the c-section that day.

My third was a scheduled c-section, was admitted 1 day before my scheduled day for high blood pressure...delivered on my scheduled day at 39 weeks.

This one will be a c-section delivery and my last.  Hoping to make it to 39 weeks but because of placenta location and possible complications from placenta attaching to my incision, it is possible I will have hospital bed rest and early delivery at 32 weeks.

Yep! I had an elective ultrasound and it'll be girl #2

Had a c section with my last as she was breech, and was super happy w it. I could technically try vbac but I'm not interested.
  • So nice to hear positive c sec stories! I have always dreamed of a natural vaginal birth and am hopeful I can do it with my twins, but it's reassuring to read the cesarean stories in case I need one :)
  • I'm starting to get a bummed. I'm due 12/28 and had a csection with my first. I'd love to enjoy the holidays and have my 2nd csection on my due date but now I'm thinking they'll make me go a week early (so 12/21) and I'll miss everything - recovering at home! My first was 41 weeks and not coming on his own. I wonder if the docs will let me?

My c section wasn't planned @Jazmine928 but I have nothing bad to say about it. I was up the next day and the recovery was fine!

Same here :) this is my 4th c section though, I'm a bit nervous.

You can request a c-section in the UK now, the rules were changed about 2 years ago. If you don't want a vaginal birth due to anxiety you have to attend counselling about it, then after that if you still want an elective section they will do it. It's not commonly done without a medical reason and it's certainly not something that's offered, but it will be done if requested.

ETA they usually do them at 39 weeks here as a planned section is safer than an emergency one, so the idea is that they do it before you go into natural labour.
  • @bluelily9 I would tell my doctors that I want to wait until my due date. They work for us. As long as the baby doesn't medically need to be out early, there is no reason that you would have to deliver at 39 weeks. It's about convenience for the doctor. I'm waiting until my baby says it's ready to be born.
  • I'm due December 20th and hoping to schedule my c section the week before. This is my second c section. First time was emergency - baby stopped breathing and doctor was unsure why and does not think VBAC is for me due to that reason. So nervous to have it scheduled this time!

I'm due December 10 and c section scheduled for the 4th, so 39 weeks. @beccabeeee Mine is medical reasons, my first was an emergency c section and my body formed a bandls ring, an extremely rare band around the uterus which forms in instructed labour, anyway long story short it can kill both mother and baby and it's t dangerous to labour again. Hoping recovery will be better this time as no labour before it :)

  • Mine is medical reasons. My first was because my labor didn't progress after 17 hours. The baby weighed almost ten pounds. Had a repeat, and 3rd section last November. This one will be my 4th. I have a little anxiety about it because they are SO close together. My scar tissue is really tender and it scares the crap out of me.

  • I was due on the 4th of July but my mom had a c-section a week early since I was breech. I guess they have been following the 39 weeks rule since the 80's :)
  • For moms wanting vbacs, check out other providers if your doc won't do it. I live on an island where they won't and I have a friend who was determined to deliver her second vaginally and she received all her care here and then delivery off the island with a doc who knew her wishes and performed VBACS. Same with breeches..if baby if frank breech (bum first) some docs will do it because the bum with dilate the cervix like a head would. There are some risks but it's always good to know your options. Years ago, breech was considered another variation of normal and midwives and docs were trained and skilled in delivering them. They are harder to find now, but they are out there!

So sweet of you to be so patronizing. Most of us here are having c-sections because they're medically necessary, not because we 're trying to make sure our doctors can have a nice Christmas with their families. 39 weeks is totally fine even according to the March of Dimes. So sorry you don't approve of how we'll be bringing our babies into the world, and also sorry that you apparently have so little trust for the medical community that you think you know more than the doctors who have devoted their lives to studying obstetrics.

I'm really grateful for my first c-section, as without it, my baby - and quite possibly myself as well - would be dead. So yes, I'm having another c-section; and yes, it will be at 39 weeks. I don't want to risk going into labor before I go into surgery.

  • Due Dec 16. Csection around Dec 9.

If its due to a mental health issue it is still classed as medical?. I no when i went in to have my 2nd son i was incredibly nervous this time round i feel alot more relaxed. Although i would definatly give vbac a try if i was given the chance but unfortunatly im not a good candidate. Hey if i get to deliever a happy healthy baby ill go with what im told to do,By the doctors who know a hell of alot more than me.

I hear you on that one, as long as me and baby are ok I'll do as I'm told. Luckily I don't have to make a final decision about this birth until 36 weeks when I see the consultant again. (I tore badly last time so I'm keeping an open mind about my options)
Yes you're right anxiety is technically a medical issue, but NICE guidelines now allow any woman to opt for a section for any (or no) reason. It's mentioned on the NHS website:
    https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/pages/caesarean-section.aspx
It's certainly not a recommended option though. I've never actually heard of anyone having one without a medical reason.
  • My first was an emergency c section for various medical reasons. With my second my doctor said I was not a candidate for vbac because of the first complications. This will be my 3rd and it's the same. Will be for 39 weeks. I am worried this time since it's so close to my last.

  • My 1st ended up in an emergency C section, my ob said I could try for a VBAC but or just go with another C section and I'm still debating my options. I am leaning towards doing another C section since I have an idea of what to expect etc. One fear of mine is that I'll try for the VBAC and complications will arise like with my daughter and it will end up in a C section any way.

@Hoppyhead ...I wasn't being patronizing. Some babies aren't quite ready at 39 weeks and many doctors do choose to plan c-sections for their own convenience...and not all doctors know what they're doing and/or make the right choices. I know, because it happened it to me. It was devastating.
  • @Hoppyhead I'm just nosing around this thread and didn't read @lainey419 comment as patronizing whatsoever. I think you just read it from a defensive place. Hard to hear tone through text!

  • Same for me, but more nervouse for my anatomy scan. My secon child had abnormalities and passed away a month after birth.
  • Due December 15 but having c-section because we agreed with the dr vbac is not worth the risk. Failure to progress with our first child would most likely reoccur with our second. Dr said we would schedule for delivery at 39-40 wks. Date TBD based on future measurements.
  • Update: My doc is absolutely fine with me getting induced on my due date 12/28 and not going early becuase of xmas. It'll my second c-section (not trying a vbac) I was so surprised and glad I requested it! So if you want to wait, just ask. Fingers crossed I don't go into labor Christmas morning.
  • I had a csection with my first after labor didn't progress and baby went into distress. All hospitals jn my area don't allow vbacs so I'll have another csection, due November 26th csection the 19th. I could opt for vbac but I'd have to travel 45 minutes, the OB I love wouldn't deliver him, and who knows if my body would even respond to labor this time. I'll be staying close to home with another c
