Registry ideas

I know its a bit early to be thinking of registering, but I was wondering where everyone is doing their registry? I live in a smaller town and the only stores we have near us for baby registries is Walmart and target. We do have a babies r us and buy buy baby about 40 minutes away. I know most people will order online so the location of the store shouldn't be a huge factor. I work at a church with a large older adult population and some can't travel far and are not very computer savvy. Anyway, just trying to figure out where to register and get thoughts on where everyone is registering.

Re: Registry ideas

  • I find BRU and BBB a little overpriced. I liked registering at Target.

  • Oh yeah I love Amazon!

  • We plan on using Amazon

  • We only did target but that was before Amazon was so popular.

I recommend target and Amazon. If you register at kohls you get a gift card sometimes which is awesome, we registered there but didn't tell anyone it was just for the gc ;)

at bru you get a gift bag for registering also, might get something from everywhere you register I just know those 3.

We are going to try baby list. A mixture of Amazon and target. So people can buy online or go in the store.

For my previous pregnancy I found that 95% people did not order online. My family all wanted to pick things out in person I guess? I got most of the things I registered for at Target, but very few of my extensive list on Amazon. Maybe your experience will be different though if those coming to your shower are younger generation Amazon Prime-type shoppers?

  • Another vote for Amazon, that's what we did and it was great :)

  • With my first, I registered at BBB and BRU

  • With our first we did Amazon and babies r us. The one complaint I have about target is that stuff clearances out fast there and then you can't find stuff in stores. We had this happen with our wedding registry and I've seen it happen many times with baby registries when I have gone to purchase things.

  • I plan on doing Walmart and Amazon...it gives my husbands family thenoptuon to buy online because they are all 2200 miles away and my family the option to do online or in store =0)
  • I plan to do Buy Buy Baby to be budget friendly and one higher end store tbd ... Maybe Nordstroms

  • For my first we registered at target and babies r us. I don't think anyone ordered things online except for one thing that wasn't carried in store (twin pack and play). Babies r us is a little expensive but they have a lot!

I like this when I go to showers.

Target sends out 15% Coupons close to your due date for anything on your registry that hasn't been purchased. I've only gotten one, but my sister in law who had a baby in May got a pack of 4-5 We've made a registry with both kids for this reason, and will again with the third. We usually stock up on diapers, nursing pads, even groceries. Just a little tip:)

  • Amazon and Target here.

  • Fun fact.. A large number of people won't even look at your registry, particularly the older ones.

I'd go with Target if it's close, and maybe Amazon. We did BRU (mostly for the completion discount) and Amazon. Aside from our parents, we got nothing off the registries.

  • We did Target and Amazon (I like that you can add items available at any website to the Amazon registry) with our first. We got a little gift pack and a pack of coupons from Target for registering with them, as well as a nice completion coupon. Amazon also gives a completion code discount. So we will probably end up "registering" at both places this time, even though we won't be sharing them with anyone, just to score some discounts!

  • For baby #1, I registered at target, babies r us and Amazon. All three registries were similar in size. Only a couple people bought off the Amazon one. I guess most people wanted to actually go to a store and see the items they were buying. Might be a good idea to register at one online place and one brick and mortar place to give people the option.
  • I'm only doing amazon. They have a universal registry so I put a note on the top of the registry that people can buy the items anywhere, in a store if they want, just please update the list that it was purchased. I don't have too many people in my family left who are 60+ and those who are are thankfully computer literate.
  • I tried Amazon for one of my wedding registries and the older people did not get it. They like to go into stores and purchase and didn't know how to update the list after the fact. I stick with registries for brick and mortars so they have the option of doing the old fashioned way.

  • We are going to use BabyList, it's an online registry that lets you pull from all different sites (Amazon, Target, Babies R Us, Etsy, etc.). It also has a browser add-on so you if you stumble upon something you want to add to the registry all you have to do is click the button and pick hte section of the registry you want to add it to.
  • We are using Baby List as well. You can still create a registry at target, Walmart, etc to get the free stuff and coupons, but then you can sync those registries to your Baby List one. Keep the ones at Target or wherever private though, because of someone buys something off your target registry it doesn't automatically delete or update or babylist registry! Also, check out diapers.com, good stuff to add if you do babylist.
  • For my first, I did Amazon and BRU, which worked really well bc most of my friends and family love using Amazon, and they rather shop online, but for those who don't shop online could easily find a BRU near them. I think this time I am only going to do Amazon, as I just plan to use it for the completion coupon.

  • We used BRU and Target with DS.  DH and I created a registry for the newest LO at BRU for our own use since there's a few supplies I know we'll need and BRU has the 10% back from your registry purchases.  Might as well get the money back since we're going to need to buy the stuff anyway.

  • I've been thinking about about this myself. I usually forget to buy a gift until the day of, so I appreciate when someone registers at a physical store so I can grab something as I'm heading out to the shower. Amazon is a great idea, but some people like to go in a store too

I did this too. It's not public but it's too help me stay organized.
