Napping without swaddle or sleep sack

We've transitioned out of a swaddle. It's been a couple weeks in the magic sleep suit and it usually works great. He'll be going to daycare soon and I was wondering how to get him to nap without the sleep suit. He can be so asleep I. My as and as soon as I put him down, if he's not in the suit, he wakes up immediately or only lasts a short time. I've tried letting him cry for a little bit but he doesn't seem to calm himself and I don't want to let him cry for too long. Any suggestions? He's 3 1/2 months

Re: Napping without swaddle or sleep sack

  • Naps are just really, really hard for the first 6 months or so. I bet the daycare will be able to get him to nap just fine. They always seem to have the magic touch.

FWIW, my DD was still napping swaddled until she was 4 months old.

I started by leaving one arm out at a time - he actually started using that hand to soothe himself by sucking on his fingers then I went to both arms out after he got used to it.
