Does the name Harley resemble more of a boy or girl name to you? We are expecting a boy, I love the name but don't want him teased or anything like that if it sounds too feminine. Any feedback is appreciated, thank you!

It's both, but this link is to the boy results.

  • Thank you!!
  • How many times are you going to post the same question?

    It's a motorcycle. Not a name.

    It's a motorcycle. Not a name.

It may be the last name of one of the founders of Harley-Davidson, but it is also a first name. It isn't one she just made up.

  • Ummmm, rude much to one of the above posters?

Anywhoooo, I actually love the name Harley! I think Harley could actually be for both and boy and a girl, but it's a great name for a boy. I don't think he will have any problems being teased =]
@AlejandraN2 I totally thought that too, and everyone loved him! Lol
  • Ummm I only posted it twice because I wanted to add the poll and I couldn't figure out a way to edit the other one.

Do you really have that much time on your hands to be bothered with a duplicate post?

And Harley is a name, unisex from what I'm researching, I just wanted opinions - look it up. Thanks.

  • Thank you everyone else for your input, I appreciate it. :)
  • I've met boys and girls with the name Harley, I love it either way :)
  • I see it equally as both with no issue. I've always loved Harley Quinn. As for a boy, one of my grandfathers was named Harley and he was an incredible strong individual. It isn't a name I would at all regret giving to a baby or worry about him or her being teased for having.

I think it could work either way, if you love it, use it!

I really like the name and think it could work for either sex.  I do think it sounds just a slight bit more feminine than masculine.  I have a cousin named Harland, not sure if you like that variation but something to think about.

We have friends who named their daughter Harley, personally it's not my fave but it works for her.
  • You should have had a "both" option. I vote for both Harley being a boy's AND a grirl's name

I like it better for a girl--I feel like to be a boys name the motorcycle reference will be more of an expectation to live up too. To wear the name as a boy he will have to have more of a swagger and a girl would have the option to use or ignore the bike reference.

I have a friend named Rebel and with name like that people basically tell her you have to "own it" everyday, if that makes sense. Normally, she does own it but I know it is a hard name to live up to when she just needs a "down day!"
  • I love the name for both! I've only known one Harley, male, but it would be great for a girl as well!
  • I have a daughter named Harley! I had the name picked whether it was a boy or girl though so it works for both IMO!

  • I didn't take the poll because I think it's both! I knew a boy when I was younger who was named Harley (his father loves Harley Davidson) but I know a girl who is named Harley (because her father is a big Batman fan and loves Harley Quinn)

:) I think it works either way!

It can go either way but for me it seems a bit more feminine because one of the soaps I use to watch had a female Harley.
