Re: Wednesday Daily Thread

  • Week: 6+3

What's new with baby (size, development):  looking less like a tadpole and more like human as the tail starts to go away

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: I have started browsing for online fabric... this is a problem.. luckily many places you can save a wishlist.  I WILL check the local rag markets first and stores before ordering too much!  And I WILL make sure I get my 1960's machine up and running again (after re-arranging the rooms) before I start going too crazy!

Rant/rave/symptoms: intense carb cravings.. but then nausea any time I try to eat something bc of the smell.. thinking about investing in a nose plug.  RAVE- its supposed to be sports day but its raining (Duh its England).. so the kdis are in forms and doing something called knock on in the Gym.  I have no form as mine was Y11 and left 2 months ago.  Ultimate bumping day! (and theoretical online fabric shopping day)

Questions for the Group:  Have you done DIY baby things.. what did you like/worked?  Linky please?  (or even whole websites I love lifewithmylittles.com

GTKY: Last Meal?  Def a surf and turf combo- Big beautiful scallops... Angus rump steak cooked rare... red wine, onion and mushroom and blue cheese sauce... Asparagus with Hollandaise... Dauphinouis potatoes

What's new with baby (size, development): Sweet pea is working hard to develop its brain.

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: I called my insurance company to confirm coverage/costs and confirmed I will get a free breast pump! I also obtained procedure codes for genetic testing to verify those would be covered.

Rant/rave/symptoms: I had the best day yesterday with tons of energy (likely due to the good mood my doctor appointment put me in) but last night I had the absolute worst night of sleep. I had vivid stressful dreams and tossed and turned a lot.

    Questions for the Group:

GTKY: Last Meal? A thick, juicy filet mignon with garlic mashed potatoes, a bottle of expensive Cabernet Sauvignon, and macaroni and cheese. Plus, chocolate chip cookies, milk, and ice cream for dessert. :)

Edited because sweet pea is no longer an appleseed. ;)
  • Week: 5w 3d

What's new with baby (size, development): growing growing growing

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: Looking into video monitors

Rant/rave/symptoms: boobs feel bruised at this point. I get to go for an ultrasound either Mon or Tuesday to confirm dates. Excited but nervous. MC really mess with your head and its hard to be 100% excited.

Questions for the Group: Whats the likelihood of seeing/hearing a heartbeat at 6 weeks?

GTKY: Last Meal? This is hard, Grilled something, maybe a juicy steak with baked red potatos and garlic bread. Or maybe a grilled chicken ceaser salad.
  • Week: 4w 6d

What's new with baby (size, development): still a little poppyseed for one more day! So excited to get to week 5!

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: I'm trying to teach myself patience. Also trying to be kinder to people. Not that I was mean but I'm a waitress as my second job & I can get a little feisty towards some of the customers if they asked stupid questions haha! Sorry if one of them was you.

Rant/rave/symptoms: last night was my first night serving tables since finding out. I have to say the whole night went amazing besides smelling everything (some good some terribly bad) by the last hour my lower back was killing me & felt like I could fall asleep standing up. Then I get home & of course couldn't fall asleep! I tossed & turned all night! Hoping to squeeze a nap in before I go back in today

Questions for the Group: do any of you worry about the stress from your job effecting the baby? I live/work in a huge tourist town & we are slammed at our restaurant most nights. I'm worried that taking 6,7,8 tables at a time might effect the baby. Also carrying heavy plates & ice buckets? I'm staying plenty hydrated throughout the night. I have yet to tell any of them there & probably won't until our first appointment.

GTKY: Last Meal? Oh man such a hard decision, Japanese food (veggies, teriyaki chicken, scallops, fried rice, a salad with ginger dressing) & a fresh lobster tail with lots of butter. Also a big ol fat bottle of Pinot Grigio.
For dessert the melting pot's chocolate fondue omg
  • Week: 7 weeks!

What's new with baby (size, development): baby is now the size of a blueberry

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: reading pregnancy books and keeping lists on my phone for different things that pop into my head (questions for my doctor) or baby gear that is recommended by other bumpies that I want to look into

Rant/rave/symptoms: the nausea this week has made me its bitch. It's so hard to be productive at work when all I want to do is lie down. Altoids are only thing I've tried that gives me immediate relief.

Questions for the Group: for those that have already had a baby - what's your favorite store for maternity clothes (online and/or brick & mortar)? I want to get on email lists so I can save $$$

GTKY: Last Meal? Medium rare filet mignon, mashed potatoes, lobster mac and cheese and a nice cab sauv. Tiramisu for dessert!

What's new with baby (size, development): Yay for my little sweet pea!!

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: Looking at Amazon deals to replace everything we gave away when we were done at just two kids :D

Rant/rave/symptoms: Stillllllll nauseous and counting down until 2nd tri (in September) - I don't know about anyone else but it being July 15 made me that much happier to be halfway through a month and that much closer to feeling better.

Questions for the Group: Anyone find any good Amazon deals?

GTKY: Last Meal? Probably filet mignon with some kind of cabernet butter on top with garlic cheddar mashed potatoes, amazing glass of cab, and death by chocolate cake with a hint of raspberry dripping down the side. Ditto. At six weeks the sound is mimiced by the rhythm pattern from the heartbeat. At 8 weeks you'll actually be listening to the heartbeat during the ultrasound.

Hearing via Doppler usually happens around 12+ week appts.

What's new with baby (size, development): size of a blueberry, and the placenta is taking over more of the burden of supporting the baby, which should calm down my hormones and end morning sickness! Yay!

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: I had an apt yesterday, but only because of high BP readings I was having. Since it was an issue last pregnancy they wanted to talk to me about it. It was super pointless and he just told me the same things I already knew from last pregnancy.

Rant/rave/symptoms: I've been feeling super nauseous without actually getting sick. I've also had a bad head ache and just want to sleep. It seriously feels like I'm hung over, except without the fun stories from the night before to show for it.

Questions for the Group: nothing at the moment!

GTKY: Last Meal? A tuna melt... Mmmm.

What's new with baby (size, development): Appleseed
What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: Nothing yet, just anxiously awaiting my viability appt. in 3 weeks.
Rant/rave/symptoms: No new symptoms. My pants are feeling super tight today due to the large dinner I ate last night.
Questions for the Group: ETA: I may be the only crazy one but do we have control over the sticky threads (removing them)? There are so many and they are kind of a pain to scroll around on mobile. I haven't clicked on them (except for the March mom one) but aren't we done with the Nursery interior designer 6/3, Text box issue (since I thought it was fixed) and maybe the Live Chats (since there have been no comments)? Ignore me, if I'm the only one.
GTKY: Last Meal? So far today I've eaten green grapes and carrot sticks with hummus and I've got a salad waiting for lunch. Boring!
  • Week: 6

What's new with baby (size, development): Sweet Pea today!

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: Nothing at the moment. My dad started telling me not to buy anything bc it was bad luck in the first trimester. (Too late).

Rant/rave/symptoms: The morning sickness has hit this week with full force. I had to pee at 4 am (story of my life) and I ate two crackers after before laying back down. I think it helped this morning when I had to get up.

    Questions for the Group:

GTKY: Last Meal? I swear the exact meal I had on the cruise when DH and I got engaged. Stuffed mushrooms, lobster tail, redskin mashed potatoes, and chocolate lava cake for dessert. *drooling*

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: My 8 month old just started crawling yesterday, so we're consumed with baby-proofing the house. The previous discussion was to get another crib or stick it out with a bassinet for a couple months & then transitioning my son into a toddler bed

Gtky last meal: lobster and butter sauce with blue cheese mashed potatoes. Yum!
  • Week: 6.2

What's new with baby (size, development): a little sweat pea

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: reading pregnancy books and too much google (it has now given me constant paranoia about everything that can possibly go wrong). must. stop.

Rant/rave/symptoms: ugh, nausea has really been a pain this week all together. each wave feels stronger and stronger. and the bloating is unreal. by 4pm I look like I'm ready to give birth.

Questions for the Group: any former smokers out there? did you quit before you found out you were pregnant or before? I quit when I found out (we weren't really TTC). I'll be honest, the cravings have been real this week. I never realized how addicting smoking was until trying to quit cold turkey. hoping for no relapses, which is stressing me out and making me want to smoke more (side note: I know 100% the risks smoking can increase while pregnant. I'm being upfront and honest since I'm only human but respect people who might want to give me a hard time. I'm just asking to see how any others have quit in the past to get some more support).

GTKY: Last Meal? Ritz crackers. The nausea struggle is real.
  • Awesome @katesaleh !!!!!!! Super excited you did that. I've never been a smoker but I have lots of friends that struggled with quitting. DH wasn't even allowed to date e until he did haha. Big props girlfriend =D>
  • Week: 4+2

What's new with baby (size, development): still a poppyseed

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: Talking DH out of the name Castiel (from Supernautral) as a first name for a boy.

    Rant/rave/symptoms:
Rave: DH has been so sweet and has done a lot more reading than I realized. He told me he would paint my toe nails in T3.

Questions for the Group: I'm wanting to finish out my 'reproductive health' ttc vitamin? Is this the same as a regular prenatal or should I be switching vitamins?

GTKY: Last Meal? Minestrone soup, shrimp scampi fritta, and salad.

@ACleanLife24 I just finished a DIY laundry room organization system to hopefully help now and when baby comes. Bought a bookshelf and baskets to fit on shelves for sorting loads as clothes become dirty. Also got matching smaller baskets to put all cleaning solutions neatly away out of reach above washer and dryer.

I've never heard of a reproductive health vitamin. As long as it has at least 400mg of folic acid (preferably 800), then you're fine.

They are made by First Response... I stumbled upon them when we were ttc. It's got 400 mg of Folic Acid so I guess they will be fine until I run out and then I can find some with 800 mg.

@katesaleh I too just quit when I found out I was pregnant. 2 years ago when we really started trying, I quit while ttc. Heartbroken, we gave up and I went back to smoking. This time it happened so fast I hadn't had a chance to cut down before quitting all together, so cold turkey it is. It's hard, I know your pain, I would give my left arm for a cigarette right now but I won't give up this baby for one! Lots of gum, maybe a vapor pen with 0 nicotine liquid, a good distraction for those cravings (online shopping for baby gear!). We can do this!

The quitting smoking is def hard, the hardest on days where nausea is the worst. I'm having more of a hard time not feeling sick. I work in a restaurant as a general manager and today all I wanted to do was nap after a long unsuccessful night of sleeping and sweating. I was never a sick person and now I feel I'm going to get the worst nausea throughout this pregnancy.
