Madeline is the less common name. And I would recommend spelling it the traditional way, as a kid, I never was able to find my name on anything, and I would have been even more annoyed if they had the traditional spelling of my name but not the variant I had.
I love the name Madelyn, and maddy is a super cute nickname! =]
I've been having a hard time finding a girl name as well. We don't know if LO is a boy or girl yet, but my husband loves the name Christina and my favorite is Riley, so we were thinking of Christina Riley (last name)... Why are baby names so hard to pick!?!
Edit: how do you make a post with a poll? I actually wanted to do this too but I don't even know how lol
To me Madelyn and Madeline are two different names? Aren't they pronounced different? Mad-a-lynn. Mad-a-line. ???? I think they're both great. Geez sometimes people are harsh.

I would pronounce those the same way.
Madeline is usually pronounced with a long I vowel like the word line. Madelyn is pronounced Lynn. However I have a friend spelled Madeline and it's pronounced Lynn.

Regional dialects can play a big part how a name is pronounced. Both the -line and -lyn ending are acceptable pronounciation in English for Madeline.
I love the name Madelyn. My first thought was Madelyn is pronounced Lynn. And Madeline would be pronounced Mad-a-lean. With that said to avoid pronunciation confusion just spell it Madelyn.

If you have to destroy the spelling, I'd stick with Avery...
