Positive blood test, negative urine at first Drs visit? Wtf

so my last period was 6/8 positive test 7/3. Got a blood count day after missed period and it was 41. 3-4 weeks pregnant they estimated. I went to a new doctor and went in for my first appointment and they did a urine test and said it was negative? They marked threatened miscarriage and gave me progesterone and upped my thyroid meds. Obviously ordered other blood work and ruled ectopic. I had urinated a ton before my appointment but if I'm a week late I feel like it should have been positive and especially if my beta was 41 a week ago, should have doubled. Anybody have something similar? Kind of confused but still optimistic. Thanks!

If your urine was too diluted, it could have contributed to your negative result.

I just went through this with my doc. Had 2 home positive tests, doc off urine test was negative. They drew blood and it was positive. I hope your situation isn't as stressful and negative as mine has been. Good luck!

My husband keeps saying so what the doctors office said negative. I just took another test from home and it's positive. I just can't help but think negative thoughts and its killing me! I just don't get it? Were you just sick to your stomach the entire time? And how far along were you?

Symptoms are no indication of the health of your pregnancy.

I'm not symptom spotting there's no need because I'm pregnant, I'm asking somebody else WITH the same experience if they were "sick to their stomach" from the uncertainty and nerves. I'm asking for people going through the same experiences. I don't need you to come into the convo assuming I'm symptom spotting. Have a little more sympathy vs coming into a conversation with nothing relative to say.

I understand about trying not to think the worst. I am preparing for the worst, and hoping for the best. Has the new doc done a blood test yet? If not, ask for one so you can check the levels again to see if they have doubled.

I am actually waiting for the results of my second blood test. The first had an hcg of 105. But I've had bleeding and cramping since my first test too.

My husband and mom don't seem too worried so that reminds me to just relax and await the doc to call with the results. They were supposed to be in today, but no call, hoping to learn tomorrow.

The Dr's office tests are pretty cheap and and have a higher threshhold than an HPT. If your urine was very dilute and your level was just at 100 I could see how it could possibly give you a negative result with the crappy Drs tests. Just go off your betas. Hopefully everything is fine

I had the same thing happen. Home pregnancy test showed up positive so I went straight to my doctor that day and urine test was negative. I had bloods taken that day and got the results the next day confirming I was pregnant and 5 weeks along. Try not to worry so much. I was told the urine tests are not very accurate especially in the early stages.
