Pregnant after a Loss

Old timer coming back with a question....

I got my doppler today (rented it from babybeat). I used the same type of doppler when I was pg with my DS. However, I can't remember when I was finally able to hear the heartbeat.

I tried today with this pregnancy (I will be 11 weeks tomorrow) and couldn't find it. I'm trying not to worry and telling myself it's too early or the baby wasn't positioned correctly. I miscarried before the birth of my DS and the fear never goes away I guess.

TIA.

  • I wouldn't think too much of it; maybe the positioning of this baby is different (or there is -- don't hate me -- more "stuff" to hear through -- I know there is on me!!) or it's just too soon for your doppler.  I remember my ob's almost didn't pick up Seth's hb at 10-11 weeks, and his was way more sensitve than the ones most of us have at home.  Hang in there, hon, and try not to stress!

  • I rented mine from the same place....I couldn't find the h/b until around 12 1/2 weeks.
  • Well I couldn't ever find it until right at 11weeks. Dh found it a couple of days before that. A lot of people have problems finding the heartbeat until after 12 weeks. I would try not to worry.

Also some tricks I did early on was to make sure I had a full bladder and it was easier to find him in the morning right after I woke up.

  • We didn't get to hear our baby's h/b until 14 wks. Try not to stress, it could just be a bit early for you. Some dr's don't even try until 12 wks. I'm sure you'll hear it soon, but I'd wait a few more days to try. GL!
  • I heard it for the first time at 11 weeks.  Tried at 10w and 10w4d and didn't hear anything.  That being said it took me forever to find it that first time and I was just about to give up when I could hear a very faint h/b.
