Maybe yes, maybe no... - Update :(

So confused!  Multiple preg tests at home that are positive, but urine test at doctor's today was negative.  Took blood, so hopefully I'll know for sure soon.

Did this happen to anyone else?

Re: Maybe yes, maybe no... - Update :(

  • If you had a positive test at home then it means there is hcg hormones in your body.
You only get does when your pregnant ( sorry for the question but did you had a previous mc? It can stay a litle longer in your body after an mc )
it can be that your home test were more sensitive to the hormones then the test you did with your doctor.
I guess your going to have to wait and see!
    Good luck!

  • This happened to me and I am definitely and very pregnant, over 10 weeks now and have seen my LO on a scan! I think that the docs use cheap tests that aren't as sensitive, the blood work confirmed I was pregnant, try not to worry.
  • My doctors office stopped using urine test altogether to determine pregnancy. Probley due to false negatives. They just go straight to blood test. I'm sure you are! Good luck!
  • Thanks, everyone, for your encouragement! :)

@birdieMila, no previous MCs that i know of.  I know that's a possibility in this case.

In the end, either I am or I'm not.  Trying not to stress too much (yeah, right!), as I'll know for sure tomorrow/Tuesday, but just thought it was a weird circumstance.  I actually think this happens to a lot of people... maybe? haha.  As he sent me off for the blood test, my ob/gyn said he was optimistic.  I'll keep you all updated!

I always fear that would happen to me.. Ha. Let us know what the blood test results are!
  • This happened to my cousin. They said an egg got fertilized but never implanted and that she must have taken a pregnancy test at exactly the right time. She ended up getting pregnant two months later.
T&P that you get some good news
  • It's weird, because I got positives on 3 test spread over a week and then he got a negative!  SO ANNOYING.  Trying to stay positive.  Got a pee test for tomorrow morning - I figure if the stick is negative, I'll have time to process that before the call... which I'm REALLY hoping comes tomorrow, because I'm gonna lose it.  As I told the phlebotomist who took my blood, "I want it so bad... but if it's not gonna happen, then... damn... I just want a beer." :)

As always, thanks for the support!

Fx for you! Looking forward to an update!
  • Woke up this morning to pee on a stick.  Noticed some bleeding.  Test still came out positive, but... I'm not optimistic because I'm still bleeding (not just spotting).

Called doctor - he says he won't have blood results till Wednesday, so he won't know details till then, but he says either it's a normal cycle (which... why all the positive pee sticks then!?) or an early MC.

Very sad, but trying to stay positive until we have all the details.  Will update then.

I have heard of people who still had a cycle after getting positive test..

  • I could be a chemical pregnancy which would turn your sticks but is not a viable pregnancy. Good luck and I'll keep my FX for you! I'm really surprised it's taking that long to get your blood test results. I had 3 rounds and got the results within 24 hours each time.

  • Hugs!! Hoping for positive news for you!! Fx!!
  • I had my regular period after I was pregnant. When I went to my first ultrasound I was farther along than we originally thought. And I had a period after we conceived. Praying for you!!
  • Fingers crossed for you! I had two positive tests at home, then a negative when we did the urine test at the doctor's office. A blood test confirmed I was pregnant - the doctor said the tests they use in office are actually not as sensitive as those you can purchase from the store. Who knew? Hoping for the best for you :) Keep us posted!

So so sorry! Love the positive attitude though! Good luck and take care!
  • So sorry to hear this...thinking of you at this tough time.
  • I'm so sorry for your loss. Hope you get your rainbow baby soon
  • This happened to me once and my doctor said that I was ovulating at the time. The doctors tests are always stronger but the blood work is the only sure fire way to know. If your blood is positive be sure to get an ultrasound right away to make sure that it isn't ectopic! I hope the lab made a mistake and that soon you'll be with a baby!
  • So sorry for the loss! I hope that your blessing comes soon and I'm glad to hear you are doing okay! Sometimes life has a better plan!
  • I'm so sorry.
  • I'm so sorry for your loss. You and your husband are so strong, being able to see the positive. Stay strong and take care.

  • I am very sorry for your loss..
Even an early mc can be hard.
But there is good news and hope out there!

I am currently 9 weeks (and 1 day!) My first Ultrasound is tomorrow and I'm very excited to get a more accurate time frame of things.
Before all of this, the doctor told me I would probably never be able to get pregnant.

I did get pregnant and didn't really even notice except I felt a little off. I took 2 preg tests and they were positive. I ended up miscarrying very shortly after.. Lots of bleeding.
Within 2 months I was pregnant again. I couldn't believe it! I took 4 pregnancy tests over the course of about 2 weeks and then finally went in to my doctor.
    Sure enough! Definitely pregnant!

The little cramps and things made me very nervous at first because of the previous mc. However, everything seems to be going well this time. I'm so excited to be having a baby that I'm embracing everything - crazy morning sickness and all.

Pregnancy is an incredible and scary thing.
Give it some time :) Good luck.
  • I'm so sorry for your loss, I wish you lots of luck in the future when it comes to baby time again!!
