Hi ladies! I haven't seen any recent registry posts but I am curious what items you found are just plain unnecessary to register for?
There is so much STUFF out there and I have heard lots about must haves, now I'm curious about the stuff that was just unused and a waste of space

Thanks in advance!
Re: Items to avoid on registry
My little girl screamed during diaper changes no matter what temperature the wipes were!
Also here's a little tidbit for you, if your baby gets bad hiccups (like mine did) and they scream during diaper changes just go change their diaper because the screaming interrupts the hiccups and they stop!!
Go on Amazon and look for the Baby Bargains book. Make sure you find the 11th edition - it will tell you exactly what you need and don't need, as well as explanations of everything under the sun. I don't know what I would have done without it!
We are putting down a diaper genie because we live in a small apartment complex on the top floor, and the dumpster is in the alley behind the complex. I think diaper genies are great for when you don't have access to your own trash bin outside =]
Diaper genie - we still use ours.
Pacifiers and bottles - wait to see what your Lo likes . We registered for advent bottles hut had to switch to dr brown
Along with crib bumpers don't buy or register for the whole crib set. Yes it's cute and matches the nursery theme. But You can't use a blanket in the crib either. Just register for a few sets of sheets and a mattress liner-2 actually!
If you want to register for clothes, do so in the larger sizes. Like 6 months + I had a ton of smaller clothes and went to get DD dressed one day a few months later and had nothing that fit!
I never knew what to do with receiving blankets. I honestly still don't! Too small to swaddle the baby in, too big as a burp cloth. They just confuse me.
But that's about it.
However, we still use our diaper pail. We don't have the Diaper Genie. We have the Munchkin Arm & Hammer one. DD is almost two and we use it every day. We also use the baby nail clippers with her.
The only thing I'd say about baby shoes is if it gets cold. We didn't have any baby shoes for DD, either, because we figured she didn't need any until she was walking, but socks only keep their feet so warm, so I was wondering if shoes would help to keep them warmer. Maybe we look into baby booties to go over the socks?

We got ours at Target.

I'd also say that you don't need BOTH a crib mobile and a sound machine. We used the mobile for sound. We never used the sound machine. Although I do know many that did.
We had a rock and play and a bouncer and never used the bouncer. So not sure you need both.
We also have the arm and hammer diaper pail and use it daily.
One thing I got a lot of and didn't use was swaddle blankets. My LO hated being swaddled. We loved sleep sacks (and some sleep sacs have optional swaddling which you can leave their arms out of if you want). Two birds, one stone there. The swaddle ones are also warmer for our winter babies even if you're "swaddling" with arms out.
I love my Diaper Champ. Uses regular kitchen trash bags. I do not put #2 diapers in there though.
Items I found useless: baby bathrobe, socks (most are crappy), receiving blankets, baby lotion/oil/powder.
As for nail clippers, I only use the clippers when the baby gets a little older. For newborns, I just peel the nail, or use a little emery board.

Also..don't forget to put some breast feeding supplies on there, Nipple cream, breast pads, extra pump parts etc. Even if people don't get them for you (my mom got me mine

Some of these things will be trial and error and baby preference. Some babies like being swaddled, some don't. We like the hospital receiving blankets for swaddles when the kids were tiny. Then we used the Aden & Anais ones when they got a little bigger.
We generally didn't mess with baby shoes, but if you would like to try them, I recommend what some people call "crib shoes" that have soft, flexible soles and elastic around the ankle. The elastic helps them stay on a tiny bit better. We didn't use them as much until the kids were sort of bearing weight (standing, sitting in a jumper or exersaucer) but they do provide a little more protection against the elements since they are made of (soft) leather. Robeez is a good brand and Target sells a cheaper similar kind.
We used receiving blankets a lot for emergency burp cloths, lap covers, towels, and tucking around baby's legs and feet in the car seat when it was cold.
My son had long feet when he was born. No newborn socks would fit him. The socks wound up as scratch mits to get use out of them. Instead we found Circo toddler socks at Target fit him perfectly and stayed on until he got old enough to pull them off.
