I posted in another thread but we went hiking today and it was discouraging. We were with a group and I really thought I could handle it but my asthma was insane and then I started feeling so sick. I ended up stopping about halfway up and turning around. Really disappointing. I'm 11 weeks tomorrow so I really hope soon I turn the corner and start feeling less sick and exhausted! I miss being active.
I had all the best intentions of staying active though my pregnancy, but then I had major back problems that landed me in the hospital at 5 weeks. Sciatic pain has kept me fairly immobile for the past several weeks. The pain has improved and my husband and I just took a wonderful vacation in the German Alps and I was able to get around pretty well, but I get winded FAR easier than I ever have. I'm glad my mobility is improving but it's pretty embarrassing how often I have to rest because I'm out of breath.
Im a runner so I'm sticking to my routine but it was not enjoyable at first with morning sickness... this week is a huge difference gained back my time and have so much energy!
We are in the process of moving - movers coming for furniture tomorrow finally. So I simply haven't had the time the past week and a half and only fit in one workout.
So ready for all this moving craziness to be over with and back to a regular schedule at the gym.
September Siggy Challenge - Favorite Thing About Fall:
@HBirdie super bummer! This stage is kinda lame when you just want to wear a sign that says, 'I'm pregnant, not pitiful,' while still maintaining covert status. Bah. Hope your sickness improves soon! @jaybirdpop happy to hear your pain is improving and allowed for your awesome trip.
My nausea was wayy better this week, thank goodness. As it was first lifting, I just felt confused about my body and habits, like I'd arrived on the other side with only vague memories of why I'd had to cut back on exercise and yet had been forcing down so many snacks. I was pretty down on myself even though I knew I *shouldn't* be. I was frustrated when it took several days to move all that food through my system. (Then I finally had five awesome BMs in three days, woot!) My thighs were soo sore after a six-mile run though! It felt awesome to be sore, in truth; I guess I was mostly relieved to be getting back at it. I really had to start my fitness from a few steps back. It's still way exhausting to run, as we know, but I definitely want to keep it up as long as I can. During our hilly trail run on Saturday, DH literally ran circles around me like a dog does--but hey, it totally works for me! In other news, my long-procrastinated research determined planks are perfectly fine in pregnancy (idk why I'd let paranoia get the best of me, and I kept forgetting to ask my OB..). So now I'm trying to regain some semblance of core muscles after having let my posture succumb to bloat-monster MO for weeks. I mean, I guess that's something of a losing battle but yeah... Jeez, this was an essay. Sorr-ry. >-

I went for a bike ride Saturday with my husband and sister in law. It was short, yet I was still out of breath. Every bump in the road scared me that it wasn't good for the baby, but I think I was just being paranoid! I plan to do a lot of walking this week and hopefully some yoga!
I'm in week 7 and scaled back my normal fitness routine to 1 class a day last week. I own a dance & fitness studio and teach a majority of the classes and lessons, but I'm exhausted, breathless and weak, not mention queasy! It's a huge difference from a few weeks ago! Trying to keep the secret from my students is getting harder every day.
I am mostly sedentary due to working nights but I recently changed jobs like 2 months ago and then bam pregnant. I'm 8 weeks. I have absolutely no energy, none, zip. Any one have any tips of things to do.
I have been walking everyday but I haven't been able to hit the gym. Between the extreme exhaustion and nausea, I can barely take the dogs for a few mile walk. I hope this passes and I can get back to doing more. I also try to sneak a short walk in at lunch, since I can't eat.
I've been walking during my morning break at work, but I'm determine to bust out the barre dvds this week. How does everyone get their motivation to workout?? That's the part I'm struggling with! The couch or the bed just looks sooooooooo comfortable when I get home from work.
I can barely go up four flights of stairs right now . So sad going from running 5k 3-4 times a week. Will make it a goal to start walking daily here soon.

Yes!!!! I seriously want to wear a sign like this everyday, esp at work! I can't wait to be able to exercise again, but right now with the nausea, vomiting, and complete lack of energy, just getting through the day seems like a success haha
@Katy422 - How far along are you? I'm anxiously awaiting my morning sickness and fatigue to subside so I can get back on my running schedule! It just doesn't feel good right now.
I am trying to mix running with my 21 day fix DVDs. The workouts are great- just 30 minutes a day. When I don't have the motivation to run I put on one of her workouts.
My biggest battle is nausea and fatigue! Just can't get over how EXHAUSTED I am.
I crossfit, and was doing workouts at least 6 days a week right up until 6 weeks. Then nausea set in and i have been lucky to get 2 workouts a week. At 9 weeks now, I've lost 2.5 lbs of muscle and struggle to motivate myself to do anything but short bursts of exercise. Hopefully I can pick up my training a little now that I'm controlling my nausea better! Any other crossfitters? And to any haters, don't worry, I'm not doing any crazy dangerous activities.
@ Adrianabates I am 10 weeks and 3 days. My morning sickness was the worst 6 through 8 weeks and then it became tolerable around 9 weeks but still there. . This week I'm feeling better!
@bfavors My motivation to drag my queasy self to the gym mainly stems from knowing just how hard it was to get back in shape and get that weight off last time! I have an 11 month old so all that hardwork is fresh in my mind. I gave up routinely exercising around the beginning of 3rd trimester last time and man I regretted it. I'm a runner and it was like starting all over after I had baby. Also, if I can push through a workout, it relieves my nausea for a few hours!
I didn't do great last week, only one short, slow run and 3 days of Les Mills Body Pump. Got this Monday started off right with a good 3 mile run! I'm hoping to get in at least two good runs this week + my regular body pump.
Had enough energy to work out when I got home from work so I busted out my prenatal barre DVD I just got off Amazon.. holy hell, I was sweating during the warmup!

I ordered a prenatal barre DVD too. Probably the same one. It's still in the plastic wrap....maybe this week!
I really got into barre classes before I found out I was pregnant. Now it's hard for me to even go up 4 flights of stairs or simple things like walking around the mall drains me. I've almost pushed myself and been very physically active. I feel like the biggest bloating baby at the moment. I've been to the gym once in the past 2 wks. I want to do nothing but lay down and sleep. The nausea doesn't help either but I'm mainly just so sleepy. I know they say exercise actually helps but I've found it tough!

Which one did you get? I bought two-both by Suzanne Bowen. Sooo tough! I had to stop at 25 minutes
I walked to the bathroom, bedroom, and mailbox so far this week. Oh and the kitchen a few times!
Honestly though, we might bike to the store for more saltines later, and If I feel okay we might make it an extended ride and hit the park but I want to go before its 90 out.
Before I found out i was preg, I was training for an Ironman, but now that I'm not doing that I have cut down on working out quite a bit. Still cycling (mostly riding my trainer or spin class), swimming, lifting weights, and running. Although running has been hard because my boobs hurt really bad when I do- so I've done the elliptical as well.
I've been pretty nauseous all the time, but I have found that exercise makes me feel better. I have been able to get at least one workout a day in, but sometimes two if I'm feeling good. 9 weeks now so hopefully will have more energy soon.

Just checked my Amazon--Suzanne Bowen "Slim & Toned Prenatal Barre." I'm going to try it out this weekend if not this week. I guess I'm glad to know it's challenging and worthwhile, but I will probably also struggle to make it through much of it! I've been so nauseous, exhausted, and achy that my only exercise recently has been walking the dog.

Ooh, Amped! Sounds exciting. We are both going to be Sleek, Slim, Amped, and Toned by the end of this.
This week I'm going to be 11 weeks. Before I was pregnant I worked out 5 times a week. Now I'm lucky to walk half a mile!! I'm so tired. I literary nap every free second I get. Today I had energy but only got my house half way clean. I hope this fatigue get better in the second trimester Bc I really miss the gym too!!!!!
I went to the gym today! Ran on the treadmill and did upper body strength. Does anyone have info on what the dealio is about exercises done lying on your back? Bench presses etc. Is it still ok in first tri? Or ok later on too? Or not at all? Just looking for others thoughts. I've done a little research but not much
I'm starting to feel better, but still winded easily. So much so it's hard to believe I ran a half marathon at the start of May. My basic daily goal is 12k steps on my Fitbit. If I'm feeling a little better, then I've been doing Zumba or prenatal yoga.
