FTM bra question

I'm 14w3d and my bras are becoming too small. I know that I need a maternity bra, but I hesitate to buy a nursing bra because I worry that I'll get bigger between now and my due date. Any suggestions?

Re: FTM bra question

  • Sports bras will give you a little more room right now. My guess is I will opt for buying a bra in my larger size for work, and be comfortable at home with no bra

  • I opted to buy bigger regular bras while I was pregnant and got a couple nursing bras for after DD was born.
  • I seriously wish I had this problem. Why do my boobs stay a size A? lol!!!!

  • I went with some cheap bras at WalMart - 2 for $14 (CDN)! Although I was only a B cup to begin with and so I'm still only a C. They might only last me a couple months but it's not a big investment.
  • Definitely don't get a nursing bra that has actual numbered sizing. Your ladies are probably going to explode in size when your milk comes in. (Mine didn't...sigh...but most women's do!)

I agree - just get some cheapies for now. Target's Gilligan & O'Malley line is super comfy. I also wear their nighttime nursing bras around the house. Perfect combo of comfort and some support. They sizing is way more forgiving, so you'll probably be able to wear them even when your milk comes in.

  • I agree with pps. Your busy will change SO much during the next year it's pointless to try to keep up- even from hour to hour once your milk comes in. If you really need a new one, grab some cheap-o ones cuz odds are you won't be the same size for long! Good luck!
  • Ever since I became pregnant with my son (who's now 2) I can't stand regular bras. I wear sports bras for the most part. That's what I prefer while I'm nursing too... That or a sleep nursing bra. I think it's because my boobs are ridiculously big. I was a DD before kids... I don't even want to say my size while I'm nursing :-q
  • I second the target bras. They are super cheap so you won't have to worry about growing out of them quickly.
  • Thanks so much! I went shopping for cheaper bras today and realized that I'm a cup size larger on one side...I guess this isn't going to be an easy process! I appreciate all of the help!
  • See, I can't stand sports bras, there's too much fabric touching the skin under the boobs and it drives me nuts, even when working out I always end up tugging at the elastic band under the boobs constantly, I find them less comfortable than underwire even!

I just bought the best bra at target... $16. I didn't want to buy a nursing bra but I needed something comfortable with without underwire. I can't remember the name but it's a satin one, no tags, no underwire and full coverage... Not so sexy but so comfortable!!
  • I'm in a similar boat. I'm already super busty (DDD) so I went to Lane Bryant and got a larger bra without underwire. Super comfortable!

I got a nursing bra, I regret it, I got it a few weeks ago and I feel my boobs are already bigger, and it's always popping undone!! It wasn't a cheap one either! However it is supper cute -and Lacey, haha! Hence why the purchase.
  • I have a size bigger bra and a size bigger slightly padded sports bra, so much more comfortable and it still gives you the support. your boobs will probably get bigger, I gained two cup sizes with my first, I've gained one cup size so far with this pregnancy. I have a couple maternity bras from my first pregnancy, but I didn't find them as comfortable and they are still to big right now.
